😢🫶🏻TLDR:
My health has taken a serious turn (apparently my body is collecting diagnoses like Pokémon Cards😅). After multiple ER visits, seizures, and a new adrenal insufficiency diagnosis, I need to put Custom Trained Companions on hold while I focus on staying alive, which feels like a reasonable priority. I’m incredibly grateful for all of you and hope to return when my health stabilizes. 💜
The Whole Story
😷😢 To my clients, friends, and community — it is with a heavy heart that I need to make this formal announcement.
👥 Since October 2025, I quietly stepped back from social media and work to focus on my worsening health. Many people didn’t know the full extent of what has been happening behind the scenes, but over time things have become increasingly serious.
⚕️
Over the years, one medical event slowly accumulated into what can only be described as a collector’s edition list of diagnoses:
Adrenal Insufficiency, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Rheumatoid Arthritis, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Fibromyalgia, Gastroparesis, Raynaud's Phenomenon, Post-Concussion Syndrome, Cardiac Anomalies, Seizures, Hyperactive Airway Disease — plus several bonus comorbidities no one asked for. 📖
🏨
Since November 20, 2025, I’ve been back to the ER four times — including February 13–14, February 21–22, and February 26–27 — when I was finally admitted for observation after multiple seizures and a frightening neurological/system shutdown that left both Josh and me genuinely afraid I might not survive at home.
😰
Each time:
• The hospital stabilized me
• I went home
• My body said “absolutely not”
• Everything crashed again within 24 hours
🤔
We’ve since learned I now have a rare condition: Adrenal Insufficiency. We’re still determining which type, but this means my body isn’t producing enough cortisol — a hormone that is, inconveniently, essential for survival.
🩸🧬
Cortisol helps regulate:
• Blood pressure
• Blood sugar
• Heart function
• Energy levels
• Immune response
• Stress tolerance
😱
When cortisol drops too low, things go downhill fast weakness, low blood pressure, tremors, confusion, seizures, and in severe cases… well, let’s just say it’s not ideal.
😬
On top of that, I also have Gastroparesis, which is like having a broken blender, that's preventing my body from properly absorbing food, and medications, including the steroids I literally need to stay alive with adrenal insufficiency. So when the IV meds wear off… my system crashes again.
It’s basically a medical version of:
📥“Install update.”
🔄“Update failed.”
〽️“System shutting down.” 💻😅
🤦🏼♀️
The rapid decline was worsened by an initial endocrinology referral that unfortunately missed key issues including improperly managed Hashimoto’s, triggering flares across my autoimmune conditions, an infection, and a possible medication interaction.
👍🏼The good news: we are finally moving in the right direction.
😊
I now have a highly qualified, dual-certified Endocrinologist/Internal Medicine specialist, along with multiple specialists coordinating testing and treatment to stabilize my health.
😔
However, because of the seriousness of my condition, I must place Custom Trained Companions on the back burner for the foreseeable future.
💔
This decision is heartbreaking. Helping dogs and their humans has been my lifelong passion and dream. But this is not the end just another mountain to climb on this wild journey we call life.🏔
🥰
To my past and current clients, working with you has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. YOU helped me make my dream a reality, and I will forever be grateful for the incredible people and dogs I’ve had the privilege to work with.
👨👩👧👦🐕🐈🐩🥰
I truly mean it when I say:
“You’re more than just a client — you’re part of our Pack.” 🐾
🫂☺️
Your updates, kindness, and well wishes mean the world to me, even if I’m not always able to respond quickly while I focus on healing.
🦮
To anyone who was hoping to work with me, I'm honored and I’m truly sorry I can’t be part of your journey right now. I trust you will find the right support for you and your dog.
❗️👱🏽♀️➕️🐩🟰🥰☺️
Always remember:
A healthy, balanced relationship with your dog should remain the number one priority when addressing behavior.
Trust, communication, and healthy boundaries matter, in every relationship, human or canine.
🤞🏻
I hope one day I’ll be able to return to the work I love.
👉🏻💯
Until then, keep up the great work and remember to meet your dog where they are now, not where YOU think they should be.
Sincerely,
Sabrina L. Granger
