Kicking the week off right!
This Sunday, and .cal.mal traveled to Pascoag, Rhode Island, to meet a very special veteran, Ken Howe. Ken was able to visit with his mobility service dog in training Roscoe the Rebel.
It was heartwarming to see Ken and Roscoe get to know each other and listen to Ken’s stories. Ken was injured twice in Vietnam and is a Purple Heart recipient.

We are grateful to .card and their card users for selecting Rescue 22 Foundation as their charity of choice last year. With .card support, we are able to provide this very special veteran with the dog he needs. Stay tuned for more updates regarding Roscoe’s training and integration!

Good boy Stark continues to progress through his training!
Stark is a natural at Deep Pressure Therapy and continues to work through distractions in public.

Stark was rescued from Burlington Animal Services where he was set to be euthanized. All shelters are experiencing a crisis and many incredible dogs are being lost because of space. We look forward to Stark’s new leash on life serving s veteran in need.

Meet Erick Innis and John Devine

Founder, Erick Innis is a veteran Army Ranger and Navy SEAL K9 instructor. Erick had the distinction of being selected as a Special Operations K9 handler in 2009 and served 5 combat tours in Iraq as a Ranger. Erick serves as an expert trainer both in the military and law enforcement landscape as well as the SAR kennel master in Manatee County, Florida.

The welfare of veterans within the community has been a pressing concern for Erick. As a combat veteran, he understands the unique experience of veterans returning home. With the Rescue 22 Foundation, Erick has combined his dedication to fellow veterans with his passion for working dogs.

Founder, John Devine During his career in the Military, John was selected to join the United States Navy SEAL K9 Teams. Throughout multiple deployments, John trained multi-purpose K9s, including dogs to search and clear hostel combat areas for any explosives or potential hazards. Knowing and understanding a dog’s behavior is extremely critical in these situations—and John is an expert on reading a dog’s behavior and their body language. This expertise allowed John to successfully train and handle one of the most capable multi-purpose K9s in the NAVY SEAL K9 teams.

John has had the opportunity throughout his career, to attend countless training seminars and workshops across the country led by industry greats, including Bob Bailey. He has also been given the opportunity to work alongside many of the elite trainers, such as Mike Ritland, the author of Team Dog: How to Train Your Dog—the Navy SEAL Way.
