I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has donated to Kash.

Your generosity is what allows us to say YES in situations like this. And we know wholeheartedly that without our help, Kash would not be here today.

Because of you, he has a full belly, a safe place to rest, medical care, and most importantly… a chance at the life he deserves!

As of today, we’ve raised $184.00 toward Kash’s care. While that didn’t quite cover his $256 vet bill, we are incredibly grateful for every single dollar that was sent his way. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference.

Kash will be seeing the vet again on the 21st for his recheck, and we’re praying that we’ll see some good progress by then.

If you haven’t donated yet but would like to help with Kash’s continued care, I’m dropping the donation details below.

Thank you for loving this little guy with us. It truly takes a village, and Kash’s village is pretty amazing. ❤️

A Week of Love…

One week ago today, we welcomed sweet Kash into rescue, and with him came a little piece of our hearts.

He came to us desperately needing medical attention, nourishment, and most of all… love. In his short time, I’m sure he’s never known what it felt like to have a full belly, to feel safe, or to have someone care for him.

Now, he’s learning!

While it’s going to take time for his tiny body to build up some much-needed weight and strength, Kash is already showing us just how happy he is to have food coming his way. He waits impatiently for every meal, as if he’s afraid we might forget.

That little face… those eyes… and that happy little tail say everything.

One week in, and Kash is learning that full bellies, soft beds, gentle hands, and unconditional love are what life is supposed to feel like.

We still have a long road ahead, but watching this sweet boy discover the simple joys he should have always known makes every second worth it.

Enjoy this sweet video of our hungry little boy!
And yes… he is VERY excited about breakfast. 😂

An Update on Our Sweet Kash

I know so many of you have been wondering how Kash is doing, and honestly, yesterday was an emotional day for all of us.

We knew Kash was in terrible shape underneath all that fluff because we could feel every bone when we touched him. But after picking him up from the groomer and actually being able to SEE just how incredibly thin he is, it broke our hearts all over again.

Once we picked him up from the groomer, we rushed him to the vet for bloodwork, a f***l test, and a complete examination.

There was another heartbreaking surprise during his exam. We were told when Kash came into rescue that he was around 18 months old. However, after examining him, the vet believes Kash may actually be closer to 5 months old.

That means his fragile little body may have been going through all of this during what should have been some of the most important months of his development.

His vet gave him a body condition score of 1.5. (BCS Scale — The most common scale ranges from 1 (emaciated) to 9 (obese), with 4 to 5 considered ideal.)

A score this low means Kash is severely underweight, with very little body fat protecting his bones.

And then came the bloodwork…

It wasn’t great.

His bloodwork is showing the effects his little body has endured from being so malnourished.

But there is something incredibly important we want everyone to remember:

This is something we can come back from!

Kash never has to worry about where his next meal is coming from.

He never has to worry about being used as a child’s personal horse. Yes… they were actually riding him like a horse.

And he never has to worry about whether he has a warm, comfortable, safe place to lay his head at night.

Not ever again.

Kash has a long road ahead of him, but he finally has what he needs: food, medical care, safety, patience, love, and people who refuse to give up on him.

Over the next several months, our goal will be to slowly and safely put weight on his little body, rebuild his strength, and help him become the healthiest version of himself.

We won’t rush this process. His body has been through too much, and we want to give him the time he needs to heal properly.

Kash may not have gotten the beginning he deserved…

…but we will do everything we can to make sure the rest of his story is a whole lot better.

Several of you have asked how you can help, and there are several ways you can support Kash and the other dogs in our care.

Tomorrow, Kash gets a much needed spa day!

Even though we’ve already bathed him twice since he came to us, he still a stinky boy, and he desperately needs all of that severely matted hair removed. We want to get him cleaned up and comfortable so he can finally feel what it’s like to have some relief.

After his grooming, we’ll be rushing him over to see one of our amazing vets. While we’ve already wormed and vaccinated Kash, it’s incredibly important that our vet gives him a thorough examination, especially considering how severely underweight and weak he is.

We want to make sure we know exactly what this sweet boy needs as he begins his journey toward becoming the happy, healthy dog he was always meant to be.

We’re going to celebrate every single milestone with Kash…and we’re so glad you’ve chosen to celebrate with us!

💔 Meet Kash.

Kash was dropped off to us today, and honestly… I don’t even know where to begin.

He’s only 18 months old, but his little body tells a story no dog should ever have to live.

Underneath all that fluffy hair is a body that is severely underweight. His hips protrude and his rib cage is painfully visible. He’s incredibly weak and struggles to walk for very long.

The heartbreaking part is that his hair hides just how bad he really is. From the outside, you might see a fluffy, sweet dog. But underneath that coat is a young dog who is desperately in need of nourishment, strength, and love.

We’re going to take things very slowly with Kash. When a dog has been deprived of food, we can’t simply give them a huge meal and expect everything to be okay. His body needs time to adjust, so we’ll be feeding him small amounts frequently and carefully monitoring him as he begins to gain weight and regains his strength.

Right now, Kash doesn’t need anything fancy.

He needs food.
He needs rest.
He needs warmth.
He needs patience.
And most of all, he needs to know that he is finally safe.

He should have never gotten to this point.

Kash should be running, playing, causing trouble, and living his very best puppy life. Instead, he’s weak, exhausted, and learning what it feels like to have a full belly.

We’re going to do everything we can to give him that life.

Please keep Kash in your thoughts as he begins this long road to recovery. We’ll celebrate every little bit of progress with him…the first full meal, the first time he has enough energy to play, the first time he gains a little weight, and eventually… the day those bones aren’t showing anymore.

Welcome to safety, sweet Kash. Your life starts now. 🐾❤️

Meet Rip… aka Tater Chip!

You know that one guy at the party who’s friends with everyone, always down for a good time, and somehow still manages to be everyone’s favorite? Yeah… that’s me.

I’m about 1.5 years old, neutered, crate trained, and possibly a Weimaraner mix (but let’s be honest… I’m 100% certified Good Boy).

My résumé includes:
🐶 Professional dog wrestler (I LOVE other dogs!)
👦 Kid approved (best with elementary and middle school-aged kiddos)
🐱 Cat friendly… although I may occasionally forget they’re not interested in my friendship. A quick “Hey, knock it off!” and I’m like, “Oops… my bad.”
🏃‍♂️ Elite running buddy
🧸 Toy enthusiast
❤️ Expert cuddler
📸 World champion head tilts for photos
🔇 Pretty quiet… unless I really, really need to go potty.

I do have a tiny confession… if you leave snacks unattended on the counter, I may conduct a very thorough inspection. I can’t promise the snacks will survive.

I’d LOVE a home with another young pup who likes to party—I mean… play. After all, every frat boy needs a wingman!

The best part? I actually have a fantastic “off switch.” Once I’ve burned off some puppy energy, I’m totally happy to Netflix and chill on the couch, hang out in my cozy crate, or just soak up all the belly rubs.

I’m very treat motivated, eager to please, and while I’m blessed with movie-star looks… let’s just say I’m beauty more than brains. 😂

I’ve been crashing at my foster’s place for about six months, and the only thing on my record is occasional frat boy behavior. Nothing a loving family, a few rules, and some exercise can’t handle!

My story isn’t a sad one because of me—It’s simply because my trainer offered to help my family, but they abandoned me. It happens far too often, but none of that changes what an amazing dog I am. Thankfully my trainer friend has kept me safe, loved, and off the naughty list- and she’s taught me so much!

So… who’s ready to let this Tater Chip become the snack that never leaves your side?

If you’re looking for a goofy best friend, an adventure buddy, and a professional cuddle consultant all wrapped into one handsome package… I’m your guy!

If you’re interested in giving this cutie an amazing home, let us know and we’ll put you in touch with Tater Chip’s foster momma.

Buddy got his final touches at the groomer today, and just look at this handsome boy’s mohawk;)

Due to the shape he was in, his makeover wasn’t something that could be done all at once. Day one was nearly three hours of bathing, gently shaving away months of neglect, and making sure he stayed as comfortable as possible. Rather than overwhelm him, Jessica took it slow and let him have a break before finishing everything today.

Even after all he’s been through, Buddy has the sweetest soul. He’s gentle, loving, and so incredibly deserving of a family that will love him for the rest of his life.

For now, we’re going to let Buddy decompress and settle into rescue life for a few days. After that, we’ll get him ✂️… and then this precious boy will be ready to start looking for the forever family he’s been waiting for.

We can’t wait for everyone to see just how special he really is.

Be ready for lots of pictures!

Let’s talk doodles, poodles, and everything curly!

Honestly, this doesn’t just apply to doodles, it applies to any dog with a long or curly coat.

Over the last several years, doodles became incredibly popular. Everyone seemed to want one, and breeders began mixing poodles with just about every breed imaginable. The result…Thousands of doodles were sold, often to families who weren’t prepared for the amount of grooming these dogs require.

Now we’re seeing the heartbreaking consequences. Doodles are showing up in shelters and rescues like crazy. Not because they’re bad dogs, but because many people didn’t realize the commitment that comes with their coats.

A doodle isn’t a dog you can simply let run, brush them every once in a while, and hope for the best. They require regular brushing at home and professional grooming every 6–8 weeks. Without that care, their coats become severely matted.

That brings us to Buddy.

Buddy is only about a year old, and his coat has become completely pelted. Pelting is when a dog’s coat becomes so severely matted that it forms one solid layer against the skin. Those mats don’t just look bad, they constantly pull on the skin, making every step, every movement, and even lying down painful.

Imagine if your hair was tangled so tightly that it pulled on your scalp every time you turned your head. That’s what Buddy has been living with.

Thankfully, Buddy is now safe.

He’s spending some time with our wonderful friends at The Paw Pad, who never hesitate to step up for dogs in need. They go above and beyond to help neglected pups like Buddy feel comfortable, loved, and cared for again. We are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

Buddy’s journey is just beginning. He’ll need veterinary care, grooming, and all the love he can get as he starts this new chapter.
