The Sanctuary Spotlight: Meet Cumin

Cumin is a Shaded Cream Soft Wire gentleman with big drive, a loyal heart, and an excellent crate habit, looking for a Companion Parent who loves a dog with real personality.

He's best suited to an adult-led home where new people are introduced slowly and with structure, and where any other dog in the household is female. His full story is on his profile, and we're happy to walk you through what he needs.

Read Cumin's profile and apply for enrollment on our website: https://rockindachs.com/puppy.php?pid=297898

Update: She has been matched!

Buttercup Is Looking for Her People

Buttercup is all sass and all heart, and she has never once questioned her right to the middle of the bed.

A smooth red piebald looking for a home with someone in it most of the day.

A New Season at the Homestead

Those of you who have followed RockinDachs for a while know we've seen a lot of change these last couple of years — the joy of welcoming our first child, and my husband's devastating ALS diagnosis. We've moved more than once, retired wonderful Fireside Ladies, raised beautiful litters, welcomed dogs back home when their families' circumstances changed, and through all of it kept working toward the program of our dreams.

We've reached a season where our family has to come first. Part of that is moving into a home that only allows a couple of pets, so Quake and Dexter will be staying with us while our remaining Utah adults and Prospects look for their next adventure. Our co-breeder in Washington will continue caring for the few girls carrying the program forward. Over the coming weeks we'll be posting weekly spotlights of the dogs seeking new homes.

RockinDachs isn't ending. Things will just look a little different for us for a little while.

Say hello to The Teahouse Litter!

Four prospects out of Chai, sired by Dexter — our Foundation Patriarch. Chai is herself a daughter of our Warm Spice Litter. One girl and three boys: Jasmine, Oolong, Sencha, and Assam.

At six weeks they're weaned, finding their feet, and showing us who they are. Their coats have come in — two smooths and two soft wires in this litter — and their personalities are right behind. Their 4-Point Evaluation comes next week, and from there we begin matching.

Enrollment is open. Inquire to begin your Compatibility Evaluation.

Update: He has been matched!

Saffron is looking for a family who’ll keep up with him.

Shaded red pin-wire, quiet in his crate, and outgoing with new people after a proper introduction. He’s assertive with other males, so he does best as an only dog or with a female companion. Real energy and a real prey drive too, which means an active family and a home without cats or chickens.

He’s ready for the right one.

Inquire to begin your Compatibility Evaluation.

Homecoming Day brings home more than your new companion — it brings a full set of records that matter for the life of the dog. Health certificates, vaccination history, deworming records, microchip documentation — these are irreplaceable, and paper is fragile.

That is why RockinDachs uses PetRecords.org to keep everything organized and accessible.

Update: Both boys have been matched!

The Radiant Juvenile Enrollment

There is a special kind of magic in a Gem that has moved past the nursery but kept every ounce of puppy wonder.

Currently, we have two older Gems—Phoenix and Saffron—who are looking for their Legacy families. While they have the physical maturity of a junior dog, they are still very much "puppy-minded." They are hyper-social, high-energy, and possess that classic Dachshund sparkle that keeps you on your toes.

They have begun their Sapphire Tier foundations (including the "Sit" command), but in their excitement, they often forget their manners in favor of a joyful jump. They are the perfect fit for an active family who wants to skip the 8-week-old fragility but is ready to dive into the fun, "wild-child" phase of teenage training.

The Final Oregon Chapter

As the sun sets on our final weekend in the Pacific Northwest, we are preparing to close the "Jewel Box" for our transition to the desert. While our journey south begins soon, our public enrollment for local Oregon homecomings concludes this evening.

The Sapphire Opportunity

Saffron, Cumin, and Phoenix remain our final maturing males available for local placement. These Gems offer a unique opportunity for families who want a physically stable companion—past the early nursery stages—ready to begin their legacy in a new home today.

A Radiant Pause

To ensure the safety of our family and the intentional care of our Gems during travel, RockinDachs will be entering a brief social media blackout starting tomorrow. We will be offline for the next 14 days as we settle into our new Arizona sanctuary and begin the boys' transition into their Emerald Tier milestones.

The Final Window

If you have been waiting to welcome a RockinDachs companion before we transition to the high desert, this is your final opportunity to inquire. We are prioritizing final evaluations this afternoon for homecomings through the early part of the week.
We look forward to reconnecting with you all from the red rocks of Cane Beds in late April. 💎
