We genuinely think dogs are happiest when they get to explore with us.
Not perfect routines. Not perfect houses. Just fresh air, new smells, open roads, and time together.
We spend so much energy trying to create the perfect life for our dogs, but when you really watch them, the things that light them up are often the simplest. A new trail. A dirt road they’ve never traveled. A creek to splash in. A chance to experience something different alongside their favorite people.
Dogs experience the world through their noses, and researchers estimate that a dog’s sense of smell can be tens of thousands of times more sensitive than ours. What looks like “just another walk” to us is an entirely new world of information to them.
Maybe that’s why adventure matters so much.
It doesn’t have to be a cross-country road trip or a weekend in the mountains. Sometimes it’s taking the scenic route home, exploring a new park, or turning down the random gravel road just to see where it goes.
Years from now, we doubt our dogs will remember the toys we bought or the things we owned. But if they could tell stories, we’d like to think they’d talk about the places we explored together.
Trying to build more of that into our everyday life lately. 🤍
