We are so very sad but know he is in heaven and crossed the , happy, young and restored with full vigor. Baxie and Dr. LaCava were and still are a huge part of my life. Rest in peace, sweet boy! I know you were greeted at the bridge by my Gobi (nearly 17 when we helped hin cross and now you will be surrounded by all or animals. He lived a very good life and that was because of all of our love and he had a vet that took excellent care of him and his last years and he lived to be nearly 19. Sending lots of love and I know that it is very difficult but I am trying not to cry because he was ready and is now with our , whom we had to euthanize and he was 18 (ancient for 100 lb dog)
Baxterโs Mama here. I actually wrote this well in advance, because I knew that I would be in no state to write any coherent or thoughtful messages when this inevitability came to be. Baxter has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. I am certain he experienced more love and admiration from you all in his last years than he did in his first 16 years. Thank you for all of your compliments, gifts, and messages. Even though he couldnโt hear anything, I still would tell him the especially loving messages you would send and read him his cards. He was the happiest dog Iโve ever seen. Even his bad days, were good days. He would be sick, and he would just keep on going. He didnโt let being older slow him down. He still ran outside, snuck out of rooms he knew he wasnโt supposed to, bark when I left the room, and eat anything in sight. Iโm sure your love kept him going for as long as he did. Thank you for breathing new life into my baby every day you would send him positive thought, prayers, and love. He had his time on this Earth, and it was much longer than most, so letโs not be sad he is gone, but happy he was here for as long as he was!! When I brought him home, I thought I would give him a few good months, and having years with him has been such an unexpected blessing. He gave me more love than I could have imagine, and taught me more about life than any person. He was a wise, gentle soul, and you could all see that. His life had meaning, he leaves this world leaving behind the memories of being funny, resilient, forgiving, and most of all, full of love. Please smile when you think of him.
Wait for me at the bridge, buddy. I canโt wait to see you again! Rest in peace and all the pizza bones you can eat.
Baxter Theodore Brick LaCava Boltrom you taught me more about love and life than I could have ever thought. I owe you so much more than I could ever give you.
While I appreciate all message and correspondence this will generate, I will be in no shape to respond, I hope you can understand.
This is his last picture, laying on my chest. He went peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him. I gave him kisses for each one of you. He left this world knowing he was loved.
โThe misery of keeping a dog is his dying so soon. But, to be sure, if he lived for fifty years and then died, what would become of me?โ -Sir Walter Scott
Itโs still appropriate, even though he got closer to 50 than most!
