Uroliths (Bladder Stones) in Tortoises
Be wary of people who speak in absolutes regarding the care and keeping of animals. What works for someone in the moderate climate of Northern California may not work for someone in the arid deserts of Southern Arizona. Humidity levels, Soil, Burrow sustainability, Available Flora and Fauna, Climate Zones etc.... Vary DRASTICALLY. It’s important when gathering advice from FB groups to consider where the group admins are located as they will be providing information that is familiar to their surroundings. Ask questions, but do not rely solely on information you get on FB, please research what works in the actual climate your Tortoises and Reptiles will live. Your pets wellbeing depends on it ❤️🐢🦎🐍

A few treats for the day before the heat sets in.
Yesterday was 104°. I placed frozen water bottles in the above ground enclosures and that kept the temperature at a cool 70° all day. In the evening when I went to retrieve the bottles to refreeze them, the torts were all snuggled up to them. Another hot one today. Stay safe friends ❤️🐢

With weather like we’ve been having lately, the torts only emerge from their burrows in the early morning hours.
Cilantro is a rare treat around here, but they all come running when it’s served🌱
The blackbirds have polished off what’s left of my grapevines 😕
It's finally getting hot outside. Where are the rattlesnakes? Right now a rattlesnake seen at your home means something different than it did just a month ago; here's an article that explains what's happening, and how to avoid rattlesnakes at your home this July.

Bought Pancake a kiddie pool two days ago. At 5:30am I filled it with water for him and he climbed right in. Six hours later it looks like this. Congrats Pancake, you set the record for pool destruction (previously held by Marcellus at six days).
