🌟 DIANE RECOVERY - MURPHYSBORO, IL 🌟

Yesterday, 5/24, many of you know I unexpectedly lost one of my very own pack members. The grief has been heavy, and honestly hard to put into words. As I was trying to navigate my own heartbreak, I began receiving calls regarding a lost pet out of Murphysboro.

Truthfully, I didn’t feel mentally available to help. My heart was hurting, my mind was exhausted, and part of me just wanted to shut the world out for a little while. But when I woke up today, the weight of what it feels like to be missing a pet sat so heavily on my chest. I know that pain. I know the panic, the fear, the helplessness, and the desperate hope that maybe somehow they’ll find their way home. I couldn’t ignore it.

The family was seeking thermal drone assistance, and with the weather conditions, I explained the likelihood of locating her with the drone was slim. But I still decided to try. But recovery work is never just about the drone. It’s about understanding behavior, patience, scent, and trust. So we did the groundwork. Scent items. Feeding stations. Familiar smells. And to be honest, just a little bit of Mowgli rainbow bridge dust guiding the way.

And it wasn’t long, we got eyes on her on camera. We laid scent trails, and it didn’t take long before she found them. I immediately got a trap in place, and by the time everything was set and I made it back to the house, Diane was already in her owner’s arms. She followed those scent trails all the way back to her point of departure.

The reunion was emotional in every sense of the word. Her dad had recently undergone open heart surgery, and this family was absolutely devastated by her disappearance. To witness that moment, the relief, the tears, the love, it was something bigger than words.

Today reminded me that even in grief, there can still be purpose. Even in loss, there can still be light. And today, with a little help from my fluffy white angel watching from above, we brought that baby home. ❤️ Welcome Home, Diane!

I should NOT have to make this post … but my phone and notifications are on silent. I’m grieving a really hard loss, and I’m not going to be responding to messages tonight. I have one active case that I am trying to maintain but other than that, I need to be given some space to navigate my loss today. Please understand and respect this. Thank you.

❗️⚠️ JUNE CLOSURE ALERT ⚠️❗️

As May is coming to a close, I’ve made the decision to not take on any new lost pet recovery cases during the month of June. I know this may directly impact families who may need help during that time, and making this choice was not easy for me. But sometimes even those of us who spend so much time helping others have to recognize when we need to pause, regroup, and focus our energy where it is most needed.

For June, a large portion of my time and focus will be dedicated to Miles and his continued success and training journey. His progress requires consistency, structure, patience, and an incredible amount of time including the free time I would normally dedicate to active lost pet cases.

In the meantime, I cannot stress enough how important preventative measures are for your pets:

• Double leash dogs when out in public
• Make sure microchip information is updated
• Keep a collar on with your current phone number
• Use GPS collars and keep them fully charged
• Do not leave pets unattended, even in fenced yards
• Check gates, latches, and weak spots in fencing regularly
• Secure kennels and enclosures before leaving pets outside

So many lost pet situations happen in just seconds, often during completely routine moments.

Thank you all for your understanding, your continued support, and kindness toward Lost Pet Recovery. Please continue following the page for updates, educational content, and future announcements! And of course, Miles’ progress. 💙
