Live pet tortoises. Getting appropriate diet items for herbivorous reptiles can be daunting if not annoying yet we persist. I use grocery greens as my collection is not all outside all year, and the enclosures are smaller than 100% natural grazing will provide, so what to do? I have been using a variety of other ingredients for some time, inspired from when I worked at the Philadelphia and Fresno

Chaffee Zoos. Both zoos had exceptional reptile collections and good nutrition oversight. I've taken those lessons, my experience in human food manufacturing and pharmaceutical drug development work into creating food items for herbivorous reptile, specifically tortoises. Though as simple as it seems, dried Opuntia cactus pad has many properties that are really good for tortoise, even those tortoise species who do not have an evolutionary history with this cactus. Over time I will introduce other items, videos, and images to help you along with feeding your tortoise. There are many great resources out there, I'm glad to have a chance to be one of them. This guy promotes himself in this video - NOT the point of the share. I do buy non-US organics and do periodic testing on small trial orders or ask the importer/broker for their test results. I always share what results I get, back to the importer/broker.

Tortoises, like us are long life organisms with the potential to bioaccumulate toxins. 'Organic' can't be blindly believed. It costs a premium over conventional at retail and wholesale markets, and cheaters want that more $ for the same effort.

The not humorous yet funny thing is that US based organic farmers are meeting productivity of conventional farmers output.

For ourselves, the food we eat, most organic fresh sold in stores is US farmed.

There is a growing slippage of the value of organic in processed foods, and in some shelf stabilizing coating for some fresh produce.

I agree with the narrator in this video that farmers markets can be a good source of organic produce, certified or not.

A wonderful resource regarding many animals, including tortoises. Go down this rabbit hole a bit. Tortoises do not have oxalate origin uroliths.

Have the stones analyzed, they will do it for free, less the cost of postage.

I have found a great deal of value, friendships, collaborations, and growth through my lifetime membership to TTPG Group Discussion. I'll be putting one of these flyers in all the outbound products until I run out or it's the conference time. Always a pretty good assortment of the types of presentation to crazy technical to very general. The crazy technical Talks are based on independent research from people who would seem to not want to go through the swamp of publishing. The general can be fun relevant travel experiences, or field experiences. The talks are near secondary to all the social interactions both TTPG scheduled and the even more spontaneous outings. The range of people who attend represents every aspect of liking chelonians. As they said in the 1960's "be there or be square". Yeah, I'm that phucking old.

A little shake up on products offered.

Waterland Tubs 'land tubs' are manufactured in the United States. I have the two land styles tubs available at shows I vend and for local meetup or delivery in Southern California.

Waterland Tubs' webpage is behind in price updates. Current retail for the small land tub is $175, but for local meet-up (you get yourself to Carlsbad CA), I'll honor the current Waterlands' webpage price of $155.

Medium land tub is web listed at $320, not the current $350. I'll honor that price, $320 for, local pick-up.
