Went to a just for fun show with Juniper yesterday, and she did great!
She was very well behaved, did better for the judge than I thought she would, and didn’t p**p in the ring! 😆 So I call it a pretty successful day!

After being gone at the show all morning, we drove 2 hours back, and went straight to handling class- where she continued to be a little rock star for me!

We are slowly but surely getting thru her weird fear period, and I am very proud of her.💜

She’s due to go into season this month, so she just went through a nice pre-heat coat blow out.. in the middle of winter of course… definitely not my favorite thing about having girls lol.

Maverick's genetic tests came back last week 👏🏼
We used Optimal Selection for a full panel, that tested for over 270 genetic diseases.

Maverick is an EOAD carrier
She is clear for everything else!
Now we are just waiting to get her BCG test back from GenSol!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻?
As a "carrier," this simply means that Maverick only has 1 copy of this variant for this condition and she will not show signs of this disease. This means that, with careful breeding plans, no future puppies should be at risk for this, either.

This is why genetic testing is so important. The test is quick, easy, and painless, and could save your puppies from inheriting a completely avoidable disease.

Happy New Year from Aurorealis Border Collies!

We have a lot of things to be looking forward to this year, and I am so excited! 🎉

I am keeping resolutions simple and realistic. They mainly consist of just trying new things and having fun with the dogs. Whatever those things may be, will be determined as we go, as we play it by ear in 2025.💙

One of my favorite things about FastCAT with Mavi, is the pictures!
Right before finishing her DCAT earlier this year, she decided that stalking the bunny was more fun than chasing it (in true Border Collie fashion, eh? lol).
So next year when the season starts up, we will be going back to doing fun runs in order to build up the urge to chase it again. Because girly is fast!

Maverick is a lovely, nicely balanced, classic black & white female. She comes from some very nice working lines on her top side, going back to Aled Owen's Cap, and Roy.🙌🏻

Pending her genetic test and OFA results, Mavi will proudly be the foundation female for the working/sport line side of our breeding program.
