Not sure if I've ever seen a Diamondback before but Mason and I encountered this juvenile Western this morning on our walk in the desert. He was right in our usual walking path.
Be cautious out there!

Interestingly, my first road kill find took place this evening while coming down a canyon road. Senticolis triaspis intermedia, aka... Green rat snake juvenile. Heart breaking in that it is such an uncommon find, a jewel in the h**petoculture industry and something I spent countless days and nights searching for when I lived in Phoenix many years ago. Unsuccessfully of course. This one is now preserved and cataloged, which is second prize to seeing a live one in the field.

My first h**p photo op at our new house in Arizona wandered up to the front door. Took a few pictures then walked him back out to the desert. I guess there are quite a few of them in this area according to some of our neighbors.

We are currently in the process of getting settled in Southern Arizona, in the heart of the sonoran desert sky islands. There will be a lot to share once we get completely relocated and start exploring. We are looking forward to spending more time outside than in. Cheers!

Herpin out west, had a good time. Not putting on any h**ping sites, too many questionable inquiries about uncommon or protected species. I really only like giving that type of info to people I know and trust.

Got three more females that are gravid, so hopefully there will be a few pattern varieties this year.

It's been a great h**ping night.

We have pulled everyone out of hibernation and will hopefully have some Gray band varieties, Corn snake morphs and Baja gophers to offer later this year.

Just meet some really nice folks here in town that can put just about anything on a mug, they also do incredible etching on glass. If you're looking for really nice personalized gifts give them a call. Beautiful work that'll last a lifetime for a very reasonable price.

So to update, we have a lot of eggs coming. Bairds have already produced, black gap, river road and Sanderson gray bands are on the way, hopefully trans Pecos rat snakes, and lots of corn snakes. We won't be posting babies until we return from Costa Rica, where we will be from June 2 - August 29. We will be posting lots of pictures from Costa Rica however. Don't know what we will see, but we will share our little adventure through this site.

Fred, otherwise known as Coluber constrictor flaviventris, is our rather mysterious new friend. He was recently found actively moving about a home south of Denver. Should he be in hibernation? YES! Please don't correct me on the use of the word. Brumation would be more accurate, but hibernation is more easily understood by most, hence the use of the word. Our speculation is that the temperature in the house was turned up high enough to affect the hibernaculum temp., resulting in a shortened dormancy period for the animals using it. So, Fremont Fred is now an honorary member of our fledgling society. Say hello to Fred. If he adapts well, we will be posting pictures of him as he goes through his color and pattern changes. PS.. We don't really know if Fred is a him or her yet. That will be determined later on in life. Thanks for following Fred.

Welcome Fred, the newest acquisition to V3Reptiles. Fred was found in the basement of https://www.facebook.com/karey.goebel and this was the 2nd one in 3 days! Clearly nature IS confused. Being too cold to let Fred loose outside she followed a lead from Carole Robison-Brass and called us. We picked Fred up, but not before he had made his presence known to the world through the ONE Yoga Denver studio and has now gained a bit of a celebrity following 😉 We'll keep you posted on his progress and adventures!

Hopefully this time we get some young from these two. Didn't take long for the breeding to begin after introduction.

This is a 5 year old female. She is opaque and appears to be full of eggs. Hopefully fertile. We will update as things progress. The pair is unrelated and both are very brightly colored and small for adults. I don't know, but based on what little information is available, it seems likely that they come from stock in the pillbara region of Australia. Anyone have any knowledge concerning regional variation in the species?

We are on our way to southern Arizona for a week. Stay tuned for any cool critter photos we might take.

Very nice surprise recently. I found a clutch of unexpected eggs in a hide box of one of our 100 flower snakes. They felt hard and dried out. Oops! I'm pretty sure I screwed the pooch on this one! Regardless, I set them up, turned on the incubator and thought, they won't hatch, but at least I'll look like I tried. Not only have four hatched, and look good, but of the two that were out this morning, one is an abberrant pattern. So cool!
