Cause For Paws Rescue, Illinois

Cause for Paws Rescue is a licensed not for profit 501c3 animal rescue organization. All dogs in our program are fostered through our network of volunteers.

We are 100% foster based. We do most of our adoptions at the DeKalb, IL Petsmart. Cause for Paws Rescue is an all-breed rescue group made up of dedicated volunteers, who open their hearts and their homes to provide a safe haven for our orphans, who come to us from Animal Control, High-Kill Shelters and owner surrender situations.

💙🩷Two bouncing baby girls and two bouncing baby boys💙🩷

When Mama Ella needed a safe place to start her little family, our rescue didn't hesitate to offer a safe place for this little family to land.

Fast-forward four and a half weeks, and Ella and her babies; Ducky, Deja-Blu, Duncan, and Derby are all healthy and happy.

A slight hiccup was tossed into the story when it was discovered that Ella stopped producing milk. The babies were quickly introduced to gruel, and after a short learning curve, they are figuring out how to eat on their own. They are also learning how to navigate the world on wobbly little legs and how to play with toys.❤️

This little family needed us; and we won't let them down.

We expect Ducky, Deja, Duncan, and Derby to be ready for their forever families right around Thanksgiving; STAY TUNED!! 😃😃

💔 SHE WAS FOUND ALONE… AND HER LITTLE BODY IS HURTING. 💔

Meet Biscuit. 🥺🤎

Biscuit was found as a stray in DeKalb, Illinois, and brought in by the DeKalb Police Department. She sat there for days, waiting… but no one came looking for her.

We can only imagine what this sweet little girl has been through.

Her coat was severely matted, with hair hanging over her eyes. She was overweight, her rear end was covered in f***l matter, and she was struggling to urinate. It was clear that this little girl needed help.

Thankfully, one of our incredible foster homes is a veterinary technician who works closely with another one of our volunteers, who also serves as a DeKalb police officer. Together, they were able to make arrangements for Biscuit to receive the care she desperately needed. As of today, she is officially a Cause For Paws dog because the stray hold is up.

And what we discovered broke our hearts. 💔

Biscuit has a bladder absolutely FULL of stones, along with a secondary urinary tract infection. Imagine how uncomfortable and painful it must have been for her to simply try to go potty. 😢

She has been started on antibiotics, pain medication, and a special diet to help manage her discomfort. But that is only the beginning. Biscuit needs surgery to remove the bladder stones so she can have a chance at a comfortable, happy life.

We believe Biscuit is a Shih Tzu, and she appears to be a young girl, perhaps only 2–4 years old. She does have a microchip, but unfortunately, it was never registered to an owner. So, for now, we don’t know where she came from or how she ended up alone.

What we do know is that Biscuit deserves better. ❤️

She deserves to see the world without hair covering her eyes. She deserves to be comfortable in her own body. She deserves to go potty without pain. She deserves soft beds, gentle hands, a full belly, and someone who will never leave her wondering if anyone is coming back for her.

And right now, she needs us.

👻 Meet Ghost! A Sweet Boy Looking for His Forever Home! 🐾

This little Ghost is anything but spooky — he’s an absolute sweetheart! 🤍

Ghost is an estimated 4-month-old puppy weighing around 15 pounds. We think he may be a Husky/Lab mix, and with his beautiful light coat, adorable ears, and soulful eyes, he’s one handsome little guy!

Ghost and his maybe-brother, Goblin, were found outside in heartbreaking condition. They were covered in oil, filthy, and much too thin. These boys had a rough start to life, but they’re getting a chance to leave those difficult days behind and discover what it means to be safe, loved, and cared for. ❤️

And Ghost? He’s just the sweetest boy! He loves to play, enjoys spending time with people and other dogs, and is already showing what a good little listener he can be. He does wonderfully in his kennel, too! For such a young puppy, he’s off to a great start.

Ghost is still a baby, so he’ll need a family ready to help him continue learning, growing, and becoming the best boy he can be. In return, you’ll get a loving companion with a whole lot of puppy fun and affection to share.

He’s had a rough beginning, and now it’s time for his happily ever after. Could you be the one to show Ghost just how wonderful life can be? 🐶💕

🐾 Meet Goblin! Your Little Goblin of Love! 🐾

Don’t let the name fool you — this little Goblin is all sweetness! 🖤🤍

Goblin is an estimated 4-month-old puppy weighing around 15 pounds. He’s a handsome black-and-white boy with the cutest liver-colored spots on his legs. We suspect he may be a Lab/Pointer mix, but his exact breed is anyone’s guess!

Goblin and his maybe-brother, Ghost, were found outside in heartbreaking condition. They were covered in oil, filthy, and much too thin. These boys deserved so much better, and we’re grateful they’re now getting the chance to discover what it means to be safe, loved, and cared for. ❤️

Despite his rough beginning, Goblin is a happy, loving little guy! He adores people, enjoys playing with other dogs, and thinks toys are pretty wonderful, too. He’s still a young puppy with lots of growing, learning, and exploring ahead of him, so he’ll need a family ready for all the fun (and work!) that comes with raising a puppy.

Just look at those adorable spotted paws and that precious face! Goblin is ready to leave his difficult start behind and find a family who will give him the forever home he deserves.

Look who’s finally off of stray hold from Whiteside County AC!

LUCKY!!!

It was the longest wait we have ever had to get a dog but he is finally here and enjoying life in his foster home!

Lucky is such a lover! He looks a little rough around the edges, but a few baths and a nice room and he will be looking handsome as ever! His age is estimated around seven years old, but he is as spry and active as a three-year-old. He loves to play with the other dogs. He gets angry with cats and he really enjoys being around his people. He is just always happy and always smiling. He does have one eye that’s permanently closed but he sees just fine!

Lucky will be available for adoption very soon!

We want to thank PetSmart for hosting us for an adoption event yesterday! They have the cutest photo spot set up! They’re also doing trick-or-treat for dogs and cats! The bags are absolutely adorable and we loved it!!!

The whole team at Petsmart DeKalb is amazing! They go above and beyond for our RESCUE and they all truly love and care for pets!
