Can we stand two posts full of great news in one day? Yes!!

We have also been informed that we have been awarded two grants from the Mountain Air Community Fund! One grant is for $5000 to help purchase food for our community food bank for those residents that need a little extra help sometimes to keep their animals fed. The second grant is for JJ's JJs Fix A Friend Clinic and is to purchase a much needed large autoclave to keep our surgical instruments sterilized more quickly!

We are so grateful to Mountain Air members for the amazing grant program they administer to help Yancey County residents every year!

It's a good day for good news! We have learned that we have been awarded an Equipped to Care grant for JJ's JJs Fix A Friend Clinic from VCA Charities for the purpose of purchasing dental equipment. So many of our shelter dogs are in dire need of dental work to make them more adoptable. In the future we also plan to offer needed dental care to community owned pets.

The Equipped to Care grant program is designed to reduce barriers to veterinary care for owned pets by giving families better access to essential services and improve adoption readiness for shelter animals by supporting the medical care they need to thrive. Funding helps animal welfare partners purchase essential veterinary medical equipment, empowering on-site shelter clinics and community outreach organizations to provide safe,
effective care to the pets who need it most.

So tiny and so hungry! It’s kitten season!!!! Oh how we love kittens, but not unhealthy, not hit by car, not thrown to the wayside. We have TNR spots for those who can trap and transport them for us.
