We’re sad to share with you that our sweet and sassy Zoe has passed on. We were surprised to find her body nestled underneath the outdoor feeder cover after no signs of illness. We aren’t sure what took her, but suspect undiagnosed reproductive cancer. 💔 We buried her in the shade of the hazelnut trees alongside Layla’s burial site, and shared our favorite stories of her life with us.

Today we expanded the turkeys Day time space by about 10 fold, finishing the partially completed fenced in area and opened the gate to allow them to roam. They were thrilled to have some new space to explore and more room to stretch their wings 🥰

Thank you for all of your patience with updates from Happy Valley Farm Sanctuary. Our baby arrived almost 4 weeks ago and we’ve been settling into life as parents of a newborn, alongside all of our usual farm responsibilities. Baby boy is healthy, as are all of the animal residents!

We’re still here trucking along! I apologize for the shortage of updates; my pregnancy is nearing the end and I’m already exhausted all the time!
All is well here at Happy Valley Farm Sanctuary and unfortunately much planned development is on a standstill due to my advancing pregnancy. All the birds are doing great; Rowan Turkeys voracious appetite continues to be a struggle 😅 and miss Penny Jenny is growing like a w**d, quickly approaching her adult size.
Zoe hen went through a molt after her implant kicked in but is looking more herself each day. The rest of the hens are all doing great and are enjoying the summer sunshine with lots of dust bathing and foraging for grubs.
The garden has officially defeated me! It’s overgrown with w**ds but the vegetables we planted are still thriving and producing so we are excited to still be able to collect food.
We are raising funds to build a coop for the birds in the spring (after our babe has arrived and we’ve recuperated) which will open the barn up for a few ruminant friends. If you can pitch in, head over to our website to make a tax deductible gift; we are a registered 501c3 nonprofit! Thank you for keeping up with us and for helping us grow!

They grow up so fast 😩 Penny is now approximately 3-4 months old and turning into an adult right in front of our eyes. Every day she seems to have matured more.
