Shane Dowdy Show Horses

Shane Dowdy grew up in Burleson TX and began riding horses at the early age of five. He has worked for many great trainers like Clint Haverty, and Marty.

Shane has won almost every major event in the pleasure horse industry. He won his first AQHA World Championship title at the young age of twenty-three, and has had many World Champions and Reserve World Champions, Congress Champions, NSBA and Reichert Championships over the years. One of Shane’s greatest accomplishments occurred when he dominated the 2004 AQHA World shows. In 2004 Shane captured 3

World Titles on CTC Imagination – Jr. Pleasure, Sweet Talking Jeannie – Sr. Pleasure, and Born To Be Blazin – 2 Year Old Pleasure. In addition Joetta Bell won the Amateur Western Pleasure World Championship on Sweet Talking Jeannie. Lynda Swenson won the Select Western Pleasure World Championship on Zizzles Hot Impulse and Mike Hershberger was the Select Western Pleasure Reserve World Champion on CTC Imagination. In addition to training and winning world championships, Shane spends a lot of his time helping others and giving clinics. Shane travels all over the United States sharing his knowledge, techniques and equipment with individuals interested in becoming better trainers and riders. He has created his own line of equipment that he uses daily and is currently sharing his unique tools and knowledge to help others.

Rest easy old friend

With great sadness, Kevin and Amy Gumz and Gumz Farms announce the passing of Its A Southern Thing or Moonpie (as known by most). A successful show horse and leading sire, he leaves a legacy that most can only hope to experience. We are blessed to have had this magnificent horse in our lives and his impact on the industry will live on in the show arenas and breeding barns. Thank you to the breeders, owners and exhibitors for not only reaching but exceeding goals that most stallions will never attain. A heartfelt thank you the care providers and support team that made his life a better place for him and us.

We had a great start to our 2024 season. Between the gold and gulf coast shows and Fun in the sun we picked up lots of wins, points and circuit awards.

These two buckles show the span of a 30 year career.
The first one was won on Light Cruiser in the senior western pleasure in 1993. The second one was won by The Whoo in 2023.
The ability to grow, develop and keep up in this industry is not something taken lightly. We are so proud of Shane and all his hard work and talent.

Two phenomenal horses and one great horseman.
