Ok all bagged up and ready to be locked down. Some quit on the way but after candling I only lost 7 of 20 Splash, 2 Jumbo celadons of 14 (ordered 12 so yay!) and half of my American Pansy from my own cage. My roo may be losing his mojo... We will try once more before he is retired. Happy lockdown babies see you this weekend!

My favorite day! Been waiting since March for these little blue gems as well as more splash eggs!

These had a better trip than the last batch of splash that had some crack.

Ok so while I was brushing my teeth today (completely unrelated to quail keeping but still good practice) I realized quail are the goldfish of the bird world. Here is why...

1. They have 3 second memories
2. They are not the best at survival
3. The ammonia they produce can knock a horse out.

Anyone else have a reason to add?

My 5 week olds are starting to lay. Look at this pretty egg. I am sure she will start adding spots but not bad for a first egg.

They grow so fast. While cleaning the brooder I took a pic yesterday (first pic) the difference between 3 days old and almost 1.5 week olds.

Second pic is the difference between. Week old buttons and now 4 day old coturnix. Shout out to Kuby's Kritters for my 3 new buttons and eggs to set.
