A Bit About Me: My name is Rachael, but I call my work Deconstructed Designs. I started out just making clothing for me. I love to make things my own, with my own special touch. My love for thrifting allows me to turn my shopping into a hobby that sort of pays for itself. I dream one day to work for myself but we shall see. What I do: I have a love for recycling old things into new things. Y
ou see an unwanted sweater, I see a Jellyfish. Those boring pants, are now a cute and comfy skirt you can wear out. That piece of clothing you no longer wear for whatever reason, is a pair of leg warmers, a cat, a monster, etc. The possibilities are endless! What I make: Lately my main focus is plushies. lots of monsters, octopi, and jellyfish type creatures. I don't use patterns, I just kind of get an idea in my head and cut it out. No 2 are ever exactly alike! I also dabble in diy and upcycling clothing. On occasion, I make collage quilts. These take quite a bit of time and are usually personalized. They will probably remain rare until I get more free time on my hands or I have more interest! Custom Orders: Most of the stuff I make is OOAK (One Of A Kind). However, if you see something you like and want another size/color, or perhaps someone else bought something you like, I can make something similar. A lot of items are made from a clothing item or a fabric I will most likely never have again. So please keep this in mind! But it never hurts to ask. I'm also always up for a good hunt for certain materials. If you have an idea of something cool you want me to try and make for you, I would be more than happy to do so! Where Do I Get My Materials: A great deal of the materials I use are from thrift stores. I also used to work in a fabric recycling facility and collected a great deal of supplies! Some items are made from new materials from fabric/craft stores. I have quite a collection of both new and used supplies. I can't really use recycled thread and although I do sometimes make stuffing from scraps. most items however are made with new polyfil.
