Why do we feed in mangers rather than hanging hay nets. Our boarders can choose if they would prefer a slow feed net secured in the manager or hung but this is why we prefer ground feeding opposed to hanging hay nets…

• Respiratory Problems: Hay nets hung high can prevent the horses nasal passages from draining which can lead to respiratory infections.
• Safety: Hay nets hung low run the risk of entanglement
• Back Problems: Hay nets can cause discomfort and muscle tension in the horse’s back.
• Dental Issues: Hay nets can cause uneven wearing on horses teeth
• Eye Issues: Horses can get hay and debris in their eyes causing irritation
• Improper Grazing Posture: Being in a natural grazing posture improves digestion helping them absorb nutrients better. Also reduces risk of colic and ulcers as this natural position reduces stress.

We have noticed a huge change in the health of our horses since switching from hay nets. This combined with the introduction of a higher quality Timothy 2nd cutting hay and flake bedding with lower dust has completely eliminated the need for nebulizer treatments, and we have clean butts and clear eyes.

Hey juice crew! It’s been a crazy year for me. Trying to figure out my way in this new world. About a year before the cafe closed I was under an immense amount of post Covid stress. My husband suggested I get back in the saddle, quite literally. I started riding again after a nearly 20 year break after selling my heart horse in college. I swore I would never ride again as I was heart broken. Fast forward and here we are. After the heart break of closing the cafe I’m back connecting with these amazing animals along side a team of caretakers and trainers at right here in Buckingham!
