The sanctuary kitties favorite day is KitNipBox opening day! When they see the box there are a couple of them that know exactly what that box is and come running and meowing just waiting for it to be opened! 😂

Thank you so much to the wonderful people at KitnipBox for giving these sanctuary kitties some excitement every month! ❤️

Early yesterday morning our boy Vinny crossed over rainbow bridge. He would have been 7 years old in June. He was his normal self 8 days before with no signs of illnesses.

He started a rapid weight loss and stopped eating on Thursday so he took a trip to the vet. His bloodwork showed elevated glucose and slightly elevated liver count but high white blood cell counts.

He got fluids, antibiotic injection and he was started on insulin Saturday.

We had to syringe feed him every 30 minutes to ensure the insulin did not have a negative effect.

Sunday afternoon he was showing much improvement but very dehydrated so back to the vet on Monday afternoon for more fluids.

Unfortunately he was showing significant signs of jaundice.

At 4 AM Tuesday he couldn’t stand and could barely move his head so we rushed him to the emergency vet and sadly we had to help him cross over to save him from suffering.

We will greatly miss this happy and friendly soul in our sanctuary. 💔

Today was a very sad day and also a day to rejoice the life of a long time companion.

Mr. Sq**rt left us to go to his heavenly realm to be young again.

Sq**rt showed up here in 2010 as a young guy but fully grown, he belonged to a younger boy that lived a mile up the road and we would call the boy whenever sq**rt showed up so he could take him home, but after eight visits in just a few weeks the boy said, “well he obviously wants to be here so I’m letting him stay”. That was 16 years ago.

Sq**rt went thorough a rough time being outside, this was before our sanctuary began, and in 2017 he was severely injured shattering his left femur but with the skill of one of our vets he was able to save his leg.

With four months of living in a three kennel configuration system he healed and lived his remaining years safe inside.

I normally do not post pictures with me in them although for his memory you can see why I did it this time.

Until we meet again my dear sweet boy I will miss you 💔

Yesterday morning I was able to get this boy where I feed the last colony girl. He’s been there a couple of times a week for the last 2 months but yesterday he ran up to me and kept head butting my legs. I picked him up and put him in a carrier and was able to get him in for a neuter. He has some battle wounds that they treated and once healed he won’t have to worry about ever again.

He’s an older boy but so sweet. He had to have been someone’s pet at some point. He’s adjusting well and loves his bed. He’s in an isolation room but feels comfortable in his kennel.

Welcome Henry to the sanctuary. ❤️

Today we lost our Sweet Jasper. 💔

We rescued Jasper in 2022 from an abandoned house. We were unsure of his age and the vet estimated he was probably around 10, but he was a happy boy and the sweetest guy. He was severely anemic and in kidney failure, unable to stand and quit eating and drinking. 4 years wasn’t long enough but we’re happy he knew love and safety. RIP Jasper. 🐾🌈

We lost power for a couple of hours after the storm but as soon as it came back on the kitties were excited to watch one of their favorite shows: Lucas the Jumping Spider. 😂 When they hear the theme song they go running to the tv.

I really tried to get some decent photos of the kitties with their new KitNipBox but they were just too excited and made it impossible. When they weren’t laying in the box, they were zooming around with the toys. 🤣

Skye and Molly.

Skye (dilute tortie) is the kitty we rescued from the trap of the lady dumping cats last year. Molly is the feral mom who brought us two separate litters last year.

Up until a week ago Skye would spit hiss and try to smack us when we got near her. One day something changed and she ran up to me with the others and started to headbutt my hand. Now when I go in their room she expects me to pet her. She’s turned into a sweet girl. ❤️
