🌱 Grow Wheatgrass for Your Bunny! 🐰

It’s easy, fast, and a healthy treat!

Soak organic wheat berries (untreated, whole seeds) in cool water for 8-12 hours. Rinse and drain well before planting. Spread in 1-2 inches of damp soil. Cover the tray with a towel for the first 2-3 days to encourage sprouting and mist the soil daily. Once sprouts appear, remove the cover and place in bright, indirect sunlight.

🌱Wheatgrass grows fast! In 7-10 days it should be 4-6 inches tall and ready to harvest.

🚧Note: Offer small amounts at first (a few blades) and treat as a supplement, not a replacement for hay or fresh greens.

📷Our photographer, Tina Drum, has been doing photography for over 47 years.

✨ Each session is 15 minutes and includes 3–4 professionally edited digital photos, delivered straight to your email within 72 hours. You’ll have full rights to use and share your images however you wish.

✨ Sessions are just $30, with 100% going directly to HCRR! Additional donations are always welcome and always ngo entirely toward helping the rabbits in our care.

❗Please note: all donations are non‑refundable

✨ To participate, proof of current RHDV2 vaccination is required ahead of time.

✨ Feel free to bring a favorite blanket or small prop to personalize your photos!

🐰🤍 Fun Facts About Red-Eyed White Rabbits (REWs)

✨ Their red eyes aren’t actually red
They appear red or pink because they lack pigment — light reflects off the blood vessels in the eye. It’s similar to red-eye in photos!

✨ They aren’t albino “by accident”
Red-eyed white rabbits have a specific genetic trait that affects fur and eye color. It doesn’t impact their personality, intelligence, or ability to bond.

✨ They’re often overlooked — and that’s a shame
REWs are sadly passed over in rescues because of myths or misunderstandings, even though they’re just as loving and social as any other rabbit.

✨ Their expressions are extra subtle
Without dark markings, their body language and ear positions really shine — many caregivers say REWs become incredibly expressive once you know them.

✨ They’re known for being gentle snugglers
Many rescues report that REWs tend to be calm, affectionate, and people-oriented (though every rabbit is an individual!)

💗 Most important fact:
Red-eyed white rabbits are intelligent, social companion animals who need companionship, enrichment, indoor homes, and lifelong commitment — just like all rabbits.

Because every stage of life matters.

Senior rabbits may slow down, but they still need love, comfort, and companionship.

✨ Tips for caring for aging companion rabbits:
• Keep them indoors in a calm, familiar space
• Schedule regular rabbit-savvy vet visits (we recommend bi-annually)
• Provide soft flooring to support aging joints
• Ask your vet about a joint supplement (we love Science Selective and Sherwood Joint)
• Monitor appetite, weight, and litter box habits closely
• Continue unlimited timothy hay and easy-to-chew leafy greens
• Help with grooming as flexibility decreases
• Offer enrichment at their pace — seniors still enjoy interaction

💗 With proper care, rabbits can live an average of 8–14 years, and seniors often form the deepest bonds with their caregivers.
