🐰🌿 Let Them Dig! Why Every Rabbit Deserves a Dig Box 🌿🐰

Digging isn’t “bad behavior” for rabbits—it’s natural behavior! In the wild, rabbits dig to create safe spaces, explore their environment, hide, and even communicate. Our house rabbits may live indoors, but they still have those same instincts.

When we give rabbits appropriate ways to express their natural behaviors, we help keep them mentally stimulated, physically active, and happier.

You can make your own, cheap dig box - nothing fancy required! Use a sturdy cardboard box, storage bin, or shallow plastic container. Add safe digging material like shredded, plain paper, hay or paper-based bedding. Sprinkle in some pellets, herbs, or toys throughout the box so your bunny can forage and dig for them.

A few safety tips: make sure the box is large enough for your bunny to turn around and dig, avoid dusty or unsafe materials (cat litter, scented bedding, etc) and supervise your rabbit the first few times to make sure they aren’t eating the digging material.

Here, Murphy is enjoying the dig box his foster mom made him!

Now that Murphy has settled into his foster home, we wanted to share what his foster family has learned about him!

Murphy loves to sit on the couch and get head pets. He is very clean with his litterbox and loves to binky, then flop in his “spot” on the bookshelf. They say he is the best bunny they have ever had and that he is so incredibly sweet!

Murphy will be available end of August after his RHDV2 booster!

Meet Boots (black male) and Daisy (agouti female)! They are an easy-going bonded pair who are approximately 4.5 years old. They are already neutered and spayed and are in the process of receiving their RHDV2 vaccinations. We anticipate they will be ready for their new forever home around the end of August.

Daisy and Boots adore attention. Daisy is the more social of the pair, always eager to say hello, while Boots can be a little shy until he feels comfortable. Daisy loves to flop right in the litterbox and she has the most stunning large eyes. Boots ears have a mind of their own — they never quite agree on where they want to be, which makes him even more charming!

If you are interested in adopting Boots and Daisy, please visit our website for more information and adoption criteria.

Meet Murphy!

Murphy is our newest intake. He came from a partner shelter who was over capacity with rabbits. Since Murphy has only been with his foster mom for a few days, we are still learning his personality. Murphy is already neutered and he will be available once he is fully vaccinated.

Check back soon for more updates on this handsome boy!

Róisín’s Glow Up!

Our sweet girl RĂłisĂn is becoming quite the lady!

When she first arrived in May, she was underweight and less than 2 lbs after being left in the overnight kennels at a partner shelter. With proper nutrition, vet care, and lots of love, she’s been growing stronger every day — and now she’s over 6 lbs! Check out her glow up… it’s amazing what safe indoor housing and good care can do.

But Róisín’s story is also an important reminder: Baby bunnies don’t stay tiny for long. They grow fast — and they need a lot of space, time, and patience while they do it. Babies often have:

• Endless zoomies and binkies
• Extra energy that needs safe room to run
• Developing litterbox habits
• Curious little teeth that love to explore everything

They’re adorable, but they’re also a big commitment. Róisín is the perfect example of how quickly a baby becomes a full sized rabbit who needs room to thrive.

Róisín will be available for adoption after she is spayed later this month. We can’t wait to help her find the loving home she deserves.

When Hoppy Clover Rabbit Rescue began, we started with a dream of creating a safe place for rabbits in need. Today, that dream is growing because of people willing to open their hearts and homes.

We currently have 3 amazing foster homes and have received 2 additional foster requests since our last post. That support means the world to us—but to build a strong, sustainable foundation that allows us to help more rabbits, our goal is to have 10 active foster homes.

Every foster home creates space for another rabbit to be rescued, receive medical care, and prepare for a forever family. You don't need rabbit experience—just compassion, a willingness to learn, and a safe place for a rabbit to land.

If you've ever thought about fostering, now is the perfect time. Together, we can build a rescue that's ready to say "yes" when the next rabbit needs us.

🏡 Help us reach our goal of 10 foster homes and change a life—one rabbit at a time.

🚨 Is Your Rabbit Missing? Act FAST! 🐇

🐰 Search close to home first. Rabbits are prey animals and often hide nearby under bushes, decks, sheds, or in dense landscaping. Bring a flashlight—even during the day—to look for the reflection of their eyes in dark hiding spots.

📱 Post immediately on local Facebook community groups, lost-and-found pet pages, and Nextdoor. Include:
• Clear, recent photos
• The exact area where your rabbit was last seen
• The date and time they went missing
• Your contact information

📞 Contact local shelters, animal control, veterinarians, and rabbit rescues. Many people don’t realize rabbits can be lost pets and may take them to a shelter or rescue.

📄 Create and post flyers in the neighborhood. Be sure to include a clear photo, where your rabbit was lost, and your phone number.

🥬 Leave out familiar scents. Place your rabbit’s favorite greens, hay, litter box, carrier, or blanket near where they escaped. While it won’t always bring them back, familiar smells may help.

🚗 Search at dawn and dusk. Rabbits are most active during these cooler, quieter times.

🆔 Microchips save lives. If your rabbit isn’t already microchipped, consider getting them chipped once they’re safely home. Always keep your contact information up to date.

❤️ If you find a loose rabbit, assume it’s someone’s beloved pet. Domestic rabbits cannot survive long on their own and need help.

Please share this post—you never know whose bunny you might help bring home. 🐇💚

Need a Deal of the Day? Make sure to select Hoppy Clover as your rescue to support. 🥰

As of today, these are the totals for the Captain Ben prize at the end of the year! Right now Northeast Bunfest has jumped into the lead.

We still have 6 more events to go. Will anyone be able to dethrone Northeast? (they were the recipient last year) Also this year we have a second and third prize as well.

We will open the pick your rescue from now until Monday on any post that we put up for preorders of the Deal of the Days.

Good luck to all!
