I have been so dang busy I haven’t posted in awhile. I need to get better at that.
But let’s stop and talk about matting. I don’t judge it’s my job to help these pups look and feel their best. This was one of the worst cases of matting I have ever seen. It was almost to the point that I needed to call the owner and have her take him to the vet as my 10 blade was struggling but we just took it slow with lots of breaks. He was so relieved once we were all done and he got a soothing bath as his skin wasn’t happy.
This is why it’s important to have your pups see their groomer every 6-8 weeks some of them every 4 if you like to keep them longer.
Matting can cause issues such as tugging on their skin and the blood flow can’t properly flow which then they are at risk for a hematoma once matting it removed. Matted dog fur can lead to several health and comfort issues, including skin irritation, infections, pain, and even limited mobility. It can also trap parasites like fleas and ticks, and prevent proper skin ventilation, leading to overheating and other complications.
