Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day weekend! I pray everyone has a blessed and wonderful weekend spent with family and loved ones. ❤️
There are a few things I would like to address moving forward with my business.
As everyone knows, I operate my pet sitting business from my home. While I do have a dedicated pet room, many of the dogs that stay with me become part of our daily home environment just like our own pets. Because of this, I deeply respect all of my pet families, and I sincerely ask for that same respect in return.
I completely understand that grooming and bathing can become expensive. However, proper hygiene and grooming are part of the responsibility that comes with owning a dog. Even if professional grooming is not always affordable, there are still ways to properly care for your pets at home. I personally groom and bathe my own dogs myself much of the time. Are they always professionally perfect? No — but they are clean, cared for, and maintained.
I want to be very clear that I do not expect your dog to arrive freshly groomed before every stay. Dogs play, get dirty, and enjoy themselves — and that is perfectly okay. However, I do expect dogs to arrive reasonably clean, free of severe matting, and without overwhelming odors or excessive dirt. It is not fair for a dog to live in those conditions, nor is it respectful to bring a dog into someone’s home in that condition.
I love all dogs dearly, but I also must protect my home environment. Therefore, I reserve the right to refuse services if a dog arrives extremely dirty, severely matted, or with strong odors due to neglect. This is my home, not a commercial boarding facility, and boundaries must be respected.
Additionally, within the coming months, all clients — including current and returning clients — will be required to sign an updated waiver and provide current vaccination records. While vaccinations are already required, some records have not been updated, and this will now be strictly enforced for the safety of my dogs and every dog in my care.
A flea prevention regimen is also REQUIRED. I do not care whether it is a Seresto collar, flea pill, topical treatment, or injection — but some form of prevention must be maintained. Summer is approaching, and I cannot risk fleas being brought into my yard, home, or onto other dogs because proper preventative care was not provided.
If proof of flea prevention cannot be provided at drop-off, there will be an additional $20 fee due immediately so that I may administer an over-the-counter flea treatment.
I do not say these things to be harsh or difficult. I simply have to establish boundaries and protect the environment I work so hard to maintain. This business is part of my livelihood, but more importantly, I do this because I love providing a comfortable, home-style environment for your pets instead of a traditional boarding setting. I greatly respect local vets and boarding facilities, and many of them support me as well — my environment is simply different.
Another important reminder: if your dog has shown any signs of illness, or has visited the veterinarian within the week prior to boarding for a sickness or medical concern, you will need to make other arrangements. I cannot risk illness being brought into my home around other animals. Please also remember that deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of circumstances.
I also want to kindly address scheduling and communication. My time is valuable just as yours is, and if your drop-off or pick-up time changes, I ask that you please communicate that with me as soon as possible. I have been extremely lenient in the past, but moving forward there will be a one-hour grace window. After that, I may need to adjust your drop-off or pick-up time based on my schedule.
I absolutely understand emergencies happen. However, I also keep my grandbabies during the day, and balancing naps, feeding schedules, and their safety while preparing for incoming pets requires structure and planning on my part as well.
Lastly, I am filling up very quickly as many families are trying to establish themselves before I stop accepting new clients. If you are considering booking for summer, fall, or the Christmas season, I highly encourage you to reserve your dates as soon as possible. Even if dates need to be adjusted later, securing your spot with a deposit and getting on the schedule is much better than waiting until availability is gone.
I truly love every dog I care for and appreciate each and every family who has supported me over the last four years. I take great pride in what I do, and I put an incredible amount of time, effort, love, and many sleepless nights into caring for your babies as if they were my own.
Thank you all for your understanding, support, and continued trust in me. I look forward to seeing many of you on my schedule soon! ❤️
