Dogs and cats have a much higher sense of hearing than us humans do. While we may hear fireworks as musical pops, our pets experience them with much higher intensity. 🎆

As with thunder and lightning, the loud booms of fireworks are unpredictable and cause a lot of confusion for our pets. Cats and dogs cannot understand what is happening when they hear fireworks, which instinctively triggers their fight-or-flight response to unknown threats. 🙀

Our Medical Director, Dr. Tom sees all kinds of exotic animals, including turtles! His favorite fact: Turtles actually aren’t slow! While they may take it easy on land, many turtles are surprisingly fast swimmers—some sea turtles can glide through the water at speeds of up to 20 mph!
