My dog is too old to learn new tricks.

False!

While puppies often learn quickly, dogs of all ages can learn new behaviors. In fact, many older dogs thrive with training because it provides mental stimulation, structure, and confidence.

Whether your dog is 6 months old or 6 years old, it's never too late to strengthen your communication and build better habits together.

🐾 Boarding FAQ 🐾

One of the most common questions we get before a dog's stay is:

Do I need to bring my dog's food bowl?

Nope! We provide stainless steel bowls that are cleaned and sanitized between each use. The only exception is if your dog requires a special feeder. We also have slow feeders available if needed.

Can I bring my dog's bed or toys?

Absolutely! You're welcome to send your dog with their favorite bed or toys, as long as they're not destructive. We know familiar items can help some dogs feel more comfortable during their stay.

For dogs who don't bring their own bedding, we provide raised beds and blankets to keep them cozy.

Why does my dog listen at home but not outside?

Dogs don't automatically understand that a command means the same thing in every environment. Inside your home, there are fewer distractions. Outside, your dog is processing smells, sounds, people, other dogs, squirrels, and everything else happening around them.

That's why training starts in a quiet environment and gradually progresses to more challenging situations. Consistency and practice are key.

If your dog has "selective hearing" once you leave the house, you're not alone—and it's something we work on in our training classes.

🐾 Meet the Trainer/Owner

Mountain View Kennel started with one special dog.

Growing up, around an English Springer Spaniel named Rusty. He was one of the best dogs I've ever known and sparked a lifelong passion for dogs, training, and the incredible bond they share with their owners.

In 2018, I decided to turn that passion into a full-time career. I worked two jobs, saved every dollar I could, and with the help of my husband, built the facility that would become Mountain View Kennel.

In 2019, Mountain View Kennel officially opened its doors, offering boarding, training, and breeding services for families throughout the area.

My background as a veterinary technician, combined with years of raising and training dogs, allows me to provide knowledgeable, compassionate care for every dog that comes through our gates. When needed, my sister Naomi, who is also a vet tech, helps care for our guests as well.

Whether your dog is staying with us for boarding, joining a training class, or coming from one of our breeding programs, our goal is simple: treat every dog like family.
