WE PROMISED WHO/WHAT/WHEN/WHERE/WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO
Robert Dudley Erwin
“Dud”
1893-1963

Robert Dudley was born in Ketona, Alabama to Felix and Julia Ann. He was the oldest of eight children. “Dud” started his Dairy enterprise in his early twenties and sold his milk under the Erwin Dairies brand. He operated his dairy through WWI, the great depression, and WWII eras.

Erwin Dairies operated a fully integrated business operation which included raising and milking, pasteurization and bottling, and sales and distribution of whole, chocolate, and buttermilk products. We can see the history of his operation even today in books and branded artifacts that remain from those times.

Unable to compete economically with the larger dairy firms, in the 1950’s Dud began selling his milk to larger distributors such as White and Barber's Dairies. Upon his death in 1963, Erwin Dairies phased out operation and eventually the cattle and equipment was auctioned.

The dairy land itself, however, has remained part of his estate. It served the area in other capacities for a number of years but for a large part has been unused since the 1990s.

That is, until now!!!!!!!!!!! Progress Photo and WHO PART 2 COMING SOON!!
