🐾 In loving memory of our sweet Eggie & Birdie, we’re asking our community for a little help.
These two orphaned kitten siblings were found and taken in temporarily by a kind Good Samaritan out in the High Desert. They need to be spayed and neutered, and this Monday we caught a last-minute spay appointment for the girl at Angels Touch. 🙏
The total cost for both kittens to get fixed and vaccinated is approximately $400 — and every single dollar you can chip in helps get them fixed, healthy, and ready for their forever home.
These two are also still looking for a family. Preferably together, but we understand if that’s not possible — what matters most is that they land somewhere safe and loved.

Sweet Scrappy Daps 🐾💛

He came to us as a grumpy little hospice foster with his sweaters, his medications, and a serious love for chicken nuggets.

I fell in love immediately.

I remember crying that first weekend, wondering how much time we would have with this little old man. We didn’t know how long we had, but we knew we would make every moment count.

And we did.

Somewhere along the way, our grumpy little gremlin became Sweet Scrappy Daps. He became a couch dweller, a heating-blanket snob, a member of the Tres Amigos, and a little gentleman who loved everyone he met.

He wasn’t with us nearly long enough, but he was ours from the moment he came through our door.

Now we miss the sound of his little Scrappytaps throughout the house. We miss his spot on the couch, his place beside his sisters, and all those ordinary little moments that we wish we could have back.

He came to us needing a home.

Instead, he became family.

He’s home now, in more ways than one.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Sweet Scrappy Daps. 🐾💛

He had terrible breath but sometimes one’s got to let him give kisses because he’s been such a gentleman at the vet 😍 We cannot thank Alanda Elser Nuzzo enough for being the bestest and most loving fospice mom 🙏🏻🥰

This week we had to say goodbye to our 16 year old hospice pup, Scrappy.

Scrappy joined The Sweet Life Animal Rescue in Nov 2023 from NYCACC, initially living with a foster in NJ. From there, by way of transport volunteers, he went to Nancy Clarke in Central NY before joining the pack at the farm.

Diagnosed with a significant heart murmur, stage 3/4 periodontal disease, and luxating patellas, he didn’t always make it easy — but I had nothing but compassion for an old boy who had to endure so much change at that age, most likely after a lifetime with the same family (we’ll never know his full story).

On the farm, he decompressed beautifully and in fall of 2024 found a furever fospice home in Syracuse just in time, before we left the farm. And boy, did he hit the foster family jackpot! Alana, Rich, and his two furry siblings loved him as much as he loved them — maybe more. He completely blossomed into the sweetest guy and got spoiled rotten, every bit of which he deserved. These last few weeks his little body gave out, and so the toughest of all decisions was made to help him across the Rainbow Bridge.

This past weekend, he got to see all his favorite people, who came to spend time with him and say their goodbyes. On Monday, he took his final journey in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his parents and siblings.

I want to thank everyone who was part of Scrappy’s retirement and hospice journey: Barbara Fiedler, who advocated his bailout from NYCACC, and the donors who made that possible. Donna Geoghan, his first foster in NJ, who fundraised for his health check and dental surgery. The two volunteer transporters who brought him to CNY. Nancy Beckwith Clark, for taking him in when he needed a place. The volunteers at the farm who got to meet and love on him. Dr. Buchanan at the Cardiology department of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine Companion Animal Hospital in Ithaca. And last but most importantly, Alanda Elser Nuzzo with husband Rich, together with their little furballs, who could not have been better or more perfect hospice parents.

Over the next few days we’ll be sharing precious moments with Scrappy to celebrate his life with his fans and supporters.
