People ask me all the time about the *pros and cons* of homeschooling.
I keep trying to come up with a long “con” list… and honestly, the only real downside I’ve found is the extra work for **me**. And even that is completely worth it.
After seeing a **private school in Minnesota** take kindergarteners to a protest, I felt even more confident in our decision. The world is ugly enough — childhood should be protected, not politicized. Their innocence is precious, and I don’t want outside agendas, social pressures, or personal beliefs shaping my kids before they’re even old enough to process it.
That responsibility is mine.
The pros of homeschooling outweigh the cons by about 99%.
✨ I get to teach faith and values — the foundation of everything, including about Jesus.
✨ My kids learn in the comfort and safety of home.
✨ We move at the pace that works for **them**, not a classroom schedule.
✨ Learning can be hands-on, flexible, and actually enjoyable.
✨Field trips, anytime, anywhere. (We are currently in route to the DC spy muesuem! ✨Outside the box (or in it in armour) thinking
✨ They aren’t expected to sit still for 8 hours a day — because what 5-year-old is built for that? (Honestly, I’m not either.)
People always say, “But what about socialization?” My question is — is all school socialization *positive*? Kids are exposed to things, conversations, and influences they have no business carrying at such a young age. Socialization should build them up, not rush them into grown-up issues.
Homeschooling isn’t the easy road, but it’s the right one for our family. More time together. More influence over what shapes their hearts and minds. More childhood.
And that’s a trade I’ll make every time. ❤️
If you can homeschool, do it. I promise you wont regret It
