The Nenets Laika has officially been accepted into American Kennel Club (AKC) Foundation Stock Services! This ancient, versatile Arctic herding dog is celebrated for its dense double coat, wedge-shaped head, and unwavering loyalty. Now eligible for AKC FSS and conformation events as well as sports, the breed is stepping into the national spotlight.

What This Means for Breeders & Owners
With AKC recognition, the Nenets Laika will now benefit from structured, verifiable pedigrees and regulated health screenings. This ensures the breed’s ancient, hardworking genetics are preserved responsibly as its popularity grows in the United States. Owners will be able to participate in events and conformation shows.
