Suzy Q never fails to make the most beautiful calves, and this adorable little Dun points heifer does not disappoint. momma is one don't worry to much about, but I'm glad I was watching as the baby came out and the sac was completely covering her face and if not removed quickly the calf can suffocate. 50% highland this girl is bound to be a little darling sired by Burdock... she will will most likely be looking for a future herd to join 💖

Soooo we are supposed to be shrinking the herd, but well when a beauty like this basically drops in your lap you can't pass it up, this vision of perfection came with the name Daisy, but our herd Matriarch already has secured that name so we are scratching our heads for the perfect name.. A silver beauty that's pure highland naturally short and stocky with a deep body.. she was a family pet and 4H show girl for many years hence why her horns were removed at some point.. many babies under her belt with no issue we look forward to seeing her calf next year, we are deciding now who best to pair her with. ❤️

We train our calves in a slow, gentle way, establishing cooperation through clear communication, understanding and trust. This begins from day one after birth. This involves watching and learning about the individual calf's natural instincts and behaviours. We then use these instincts and behaviours to train the calf to do the things we need it to do. Training cattle miniature at a young age is crucial for their socialization, behavior, and overall development. Here are some reasons why training miniature cattle at a young age is important:

1. Socialization: Socialization is critical for young cattle, especially those that are raised in isolation or with limited human interaction. Training them at a young age helps them develop confidence and trust around humans and animals, which can reduce stress and anxiety later in life.

2. Behavioral Development: Young cattle learn behaviors quickly, and early training can help shape their behavior positively. For example, training them to walk on a leash or respond to commands can help prevent unwanted behaviors like bolting or pushing.

3. Health Benefits: Training miniature cattle at a young age can help identify potential health issues early on. For example, if they're not comfortable with being handled, it may indicate an underlying health issue that needs to be addressed.

4. Reduced Fear: Training miniature cattle at a young age can help reduce fear and anxiety associated with new experiences, such as traveling or being handled by strangers.

5. Handling and Halter Breaking: Training miniature cattle at a young age helps them become comfortable with handling and halter breaking. This makes it easier to manage them, particularly during veterinary care, vaccinations, and breeding.

6. Better Breeding Stock: Well-trained miniature cattle are more likely to produce well-socialized offspring, which is essential for breeding programs.

7. Improved Communication: Early training helps establish a strong bond between the cattle and their handler, making communication easier and more effective.

8. Enhanced Trainability: Young cattle are more receptive to training than older animals, making it easier to teach them new behaviors and habits.

9. Increased Safety: Training miniature cattle at a young age can help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries associated with handling untrained or fearful animals.

10. Increased Value: Well-trained miniature cattle can command a higher price due to their temperament, handling ability, and overall quality.
By training miniature cattle at a young age, you can develop a strong bond with them, improve their behavior, and set them up for success throughout their lives.

So many years have passed since the start of this Farm/Ranch, i have no regrets but so many reasons to be grateful.. honestly, it has not been an easy one but with God, consistency, acquiring more knowledge and optimistic we all have been able to reach to this level now. I couldn't do it alone, my team did much to make these things happen as well, and for everyone who followed us, recommended us to family and friends and constantly sent words of encouragement thank you so much. Truly we rise by lifting others.

With so many amazing people in my life, helping us throughout the years without even asking for assistance has encouraged us to help others as well and that is why we keep educating and answering questions for no PAYMENT. And we are willing to help in any way we can.

Whatever you are doing especially as a breeder don't give up, be consistent and always make sure you learn something every week and every month, get closer to other breeders and get strategies and tips on how to care for your farm and cattle. You can't do it alone that's why we have each other. A day will come when you'll realize not giving up was the best decision you ever made.

Thank you everyone, we love you and appreciate you 🙏❤️

🚨𝟓 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 🚨

𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞

How beautiful and amazing they are, but there are some very crucial things you always have to ensure or have been put in place,

🐮 HEALTH : Cattle health is just as important as everyone else and you wouldn't want to purchase an unhealthy highland. The breeder should ensure that the health of this cattle is 100% good and have the right/necessary nutrients. To know the important vaccines and how to keep your cattle

🐮 GENETIC DIVERSITY : It is the variety of genetic traits within a population or breed. Miniature Highland cattle are a relatively new breed, and there may not be as much genetic diversity within the breed as there is in larger breeds. This means that you may need to look for a breeder who is working to increase genetic diversity within their herd. [ The following post will explain why it is important ]

🐮 SIZE : While they are called "miniature" miniature Highland cattle can still grow quite large, with males weighing up to 1,000 pounds and females weighing up to 800 pounds. Make sure you have adequate space and fencing to accommodate their size. ( NOW YOU KNOW ), though they may grow very large, others have very small sizes [ Don't worry, it will be explained more in the next post ]

🐮 TEMPERAMENT: Highland cattle are known for their friendly and docile nature, but it's still important to research the breeder and the temperament of the specific cattle you're interested in. Some miniature Highland cattle may have been bred from larger Highlander cattle, which can affect their temperament. That is the reason why all breeders ensure these cattle are well trained 🚨 SOCIALIZATION 🚨 It is a period where cattle are trained on how to relate with other animals and humans. It helps breeders discover their temperament and how to handle it [ Done a post on this check in Miniature Highland Cattle Education ( M. H. C. E) ]on socialization

🐮 FEEDING : Let the breeder let you know and see what they eat, which enables them to have the right nutrients, especially for pregnant cattle

You are always free to ask as many questions as possible, get clarity first, don't rush in. GET the best and money's worth.

Look what Miss Daisy delivered today, a beautiful Highpark marked boy 50% highland named Oscar lI... Daisy is our only full-size cow we rescued when she was a little bag of bones living in a tiy pen knee deep in mud shared with many other farm animals, even though she wasn't initially what we wanted we couldn't leave her in those conditions so we brought her home with us.. She has become the most important part of our herd the calm even headed herd Matriarch. She protects us from any bossy girls and she keeps the entire herd calm she is the perfect leader most of the time all she has to do is lift an eyebrow and switch her head a bit and the girls knock off any knotty behavior.., her second Highpark marked calf if this boy is anything like the last he is going to be spectacular but not small.
