Yesterday reminded us why we do what we do.
When we got the call that Ozzy, a previous puppy of ours was suffering an unknown emergency at a dog sitters house. The owner had asked if I could go check on him. I arrived at the dog sitters house and Ozzys tongue was completely blue and was panting heavily. I immediately called my wife to have her meet me outside with our oxygen concentrator. I arrived at my house with Ozzy, my daughter Abigail and Savannah both jumped in the car in their pajamas and without shoes and we immediately left the animal hospital.
What many people don’t know is that while we were driving to the emergency hospital, our daughters, Abigail and Savannah, stayed by Ozzy’s side the entire ride, helping keep his oxygen mask in place and keeping him as calm as possible. I truly couldn’t have done it without them.
We’re incredibly grateful that Ozzy made it to the emergency hospital alive, and we’re continuing to pray for his recovery.
As breeders, our responsibility doesn’t end when a puppy goes home. We consider every dog we’ve brought into this world part of our extended family. Whether it’s advice, support, or responding to an emergency, we’ll always do everything we can to be there when we’re needed.
Please remember that heat can become life threatening for brachycephalic breeds in a matter of minutes. If your dog ever seems to be struggling, don’t wait ! Seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
