Loving Paws Animal Center, Inc. - LPAC

Loving Paws Animal Center, Inc. - LPAC LPAC is dedicated to “at-risk” homeless felines. Please spay & neuter! www.petfriendlyplate.org Welcome to LPAC. I have rescued animals since 2002.

My name is Teresa Fee; Founder and Executive Director of Loving Paws Animal Center - LPAC. I have always loved animals since young, especially, those who are ill, injured, special needs (CH) and/or of senior age.

LPAC is a No-Kill 501(c)3 Nonprofit Animal Rescue Group located in Battle Ground, Indiana dedicated to homeless at-risk feral/stray kitties that are sick, injured, special needs and/or

motherless kittens. We take pride in transforming kitties of all ages that have suffered unnecessary neglect.

At LPAC, our focus is to provide top-notch medical attention & rehabilitation in a loving, respectful and attentive family environment. We offer both temporary & lifelong programs to kitties in need, as space is available. LPAC proudly offers TNR services to areas lacking assistance. TNR services are only offered when funds are available. Trap Neuter Return is the most humane choice to help decrease the overpopulation of unwanted litters. TNR kitties that are happier & best suited in their outside elements, are always released back to their colony/property within 72 hours of their spay/neuter surgery; unless, further recovery time is needed. We do not recommend relocation of feral cats, unless they are in an unsafe environment (relocation will be determined at time of assessment). All colonies require a dedicated caretaker. Spaying and neutering your family pets is a great way to help reduce the overpopulation of animals. Not only will it help with behaviors in cats & dogs, as well as their need to mark their territory; they live happier, healthier lives. Altered animals are less likely to contract deadly, contagious diseases too. Therefore, the spread of these diseases decreases. Approximately, 2.7 million animals are euthanized a year. Spayed/Neutered animals will help decrease the number of animals that are killed. It costs more to care for a litter of kittens or puppies, than it would to have them fixed. One female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in a 6 year period. While a cat and her offspring can produce a large amount of 370,000 in seven years. These numbers are outrageous and growing. It's time to help make a difference in the lives of our family pets and our community of homeless furry friends.

Sorry for the lack of activity. It has been a long, stressful & emotional past 7 weeks. I will touch on this at a later date!!

Here’s an update on some kitties to bring you up to speed.

Rhylinn did great during surgery on May 14th. They removed a polyp that was found in an unusual area & was too big for that location. Her recovery has gone well & she is feeling much better.

Ivory had her extensive ultrasound and specialized labs. She also had a lymph node aspirate to check for cancer. That came back unremarkable - meaning no cancer was found. She has been diagnosed with IBD.

Jayce, the cat that I took from a very unhealthy property, hits 7 weeks of his FIP treatment tomorrow. He has 5 more weeks left. You can see in his comparison photos, just how awful he felt and how massive his stomach was. Jayce was full of abdominal/chest fluid from Wet FIP & his guts weren’t moving at all - meaning he was terribly backed up. I highly suspect he had/has Dry FIP too. I treated him for an URI for 10 days, but he continues having very leaky eyes. This handsome, semi-feral boy is also FIV+.

Roary recently went to the vet for suddenly peeing outside the cat box. A blood clot in his bladder was found on ultrasound. He will be going back for further diagnostics, as he is still having some out of box accidents.

Marvyn is a kitten we stepped up for, when he showed up at one of our caretakers home. He went from great to not good within a couple of weeks. He initially went to the vet for a freak accident. He got his little toe stuck in one of the pet hammock clips. This caused him to panic, twisting & turning trying to get free. He suffered from a soft tissue injury. This little cutie also stopped eating and became lethargic. Once at the vet he had a temp of 105.9. The vet sent out a Fever of Unknown Origin RealPCR panel and results came back with calicivirus. He is feeling much better now.

Purrina is scheduled for her nasal passages enlargement surgery on June 1st. We hope that this helps her ability to breathe and feel much better overall.

We are still trying to pay off our high balances from dentals, surgical procedures, group sick visits, wellness exams, diagnostics appts, etc. Please consider calling in a direct to vet donation to either of the clinics below. We need to get these paid off, so that we can remain in good standing and schedule more appts for our medical kitties, annual exams/vaccines, senior appts/labs, dentals and follow up appts.

Meet Ivory! This gorgeous girl is almost 3 years old. She was originally surrendered to Sarah, from IN Shelter Pet Spotlight. Sarah had every intention of getting Ivory’s issues figured out, until it was discovered that she has more going on & will be an expensive case. IN Shelter Pet Spotlight is not a rescue nor a nonprofit. They receive amazing support for the awesome work they do, however, this pretty girls medical needs will require a quicker support response. Looking at her you’d assume she was a healthy cat. Sadly, she is very unwell and the cause is currently unknown. Sarah started vet care with beginning diagnostics, which cost $795. The next round of tests will cost almost $1000 and that doesn’t include any necessary appts prior - which may happen tomorrow.

Ivory isn’t just a very picky eater, she struggles to eat well, due to underlining issues we are working towards getting answers to. She is underweight at just 4.9 lbs. She vomits and has diarrhea after trying to eat. Thereafter, Sarah noticed she becomes lethargic and has a change in temperament- less responsive, turns away from her, barely reacts to pets & lays further in the back of her cage. Ivory also has high blood pressure, which is uncommon in cats her age. High b.p. is secondary and caused by an underlining disease. It is crucial to find out what is going on, so proper treatment can be started asap. High blood pressure is a silent killer and her life is in jeopardy.

Ivory has been referred to as a lemon. For those unfamiliar with this veterinary slang, it means she likely has costly health issues that are significant & chronic.

Ivory will continue being fostered by Sarah. They have formed a beautiful bond and uprooting her could cause unnecessary stress.

We will start fundraising for her tomorrow and we’ll post updates as we have them.

Please Do Not message/text/call Loving Paws/Teresa or Sarah/IN Shelter Pet Spotlight, that you’re interested in adopting Ivory. Adoption is the furthest thing from our minds at this point. Sarah & her page have been bombarded with interest already. The focus is her health!
