Puppies had a big morning! Went with us to say goodbye to younger 2 kids for camp for a week. Then went straight from there to their vet checkup. They got lots of love and clean bills of health!

My kids all help with chores around the farm. One of those chores is feeding the dogs. We teach our dogs to wait their turn by calling each by name. They are not allowed to jump, push, or take another dog’s bowl before their name is called. We do this supervised (because they are dogs still!), but it definitely makes feeding time much more pleasant this skill of “wait” is good to help prevent bullying, as well as pushing out of doorways, crate doors, etc. it leads to a much more pleasant and enjoyable time with our dogs!

What are some skills you think are important to well-mannered and pleasant interactions with YOUR dogs?

Learning to be quiet in a crate when there are things going on around the dog is such an important skill.

This is important when you have a large family event and can’t have the puppy out because you cannot watch it. Or the dog needs to take a visit to the vet. Or to travel with you and a new environment. Whatever the reason, the ability to lay quietly in a crate is a very valuable skill for all of our dogs to learn.

Puppies have had a big week! They had their temperament testing - passed with flying colors! Tester said puppies were confident, happy & so friendly, not scared of any of the big sounds or movements. Had their first experience on the grooming table, got their ears taped and introduced crates!
They have taken it all in stride and I just love their confidence!

I missed the puppies’ 6- week check in! With the dog show and then preparing garden & Fun Match for our Dog 4H club, it’s been busy here!
Puppies will be 7 weeks old tomorrow (Monday)! They continue to grow so well and accomplish new things every day!! Here are some pics to enjoy!
