I'd like to introduce you all formally to McKenzie. She is starting to advance from basic obedience to more advanced commands, and today we introduced the vest, which will now go on every time we are actively training. I find that these dogs are so smart, they quickly learn to differentiate between wearing the vest when out and about is working time, or having a chance to be a "dog" when the veat comes off. Because several of her specific skills will need to be preformed in the home for her new owner, she will also learn that even if the vest is off in the home, there are times she is still on duty. One of the things I teach from a socialization standpoint when I am out with my trainees is that they must ignore people, dogs and distractions while the vest is on, but that if i take it off and give them the "visit" command, they can be social with people. We never want them to do this while wearing the vest, as the vest is meant to keep their mind all business while being worn.

Non profit fundraiser!

Spectacular E bike and cash raffle!
Proceeds will be used as follows: 1. Filing all necessary paperwork at a state and federal level to become a recognized 501c3 non profit organization in western NY for the purpose of training service dogs, primarily for veterans of our armed forces.
2. Subsidizing the training costs of our first official dog in training for a retired disabled veteran from Perry, NY. MacKenzie is a 1 year old German shepherd, and is being trained to hit an alarm button to call for help if her handler falls and needs assistance, detect when PTSD episodes are coming on and interrupt anxious behavior, and wake her handler when he starts to have PTSD fueled nightmares when sleeping. This along with all of the necessary training and manners required of a service dog in public, and in her particular case, appropriate obedience when next to things like a wheelchair and walker.
Prizes are as follows:
