I’m heartbroken to share that we lost a beloved member of our Mutts & Meows Family, Ron Preacher last Friday, May 15th. 💔
I had only just met Ron this past January when he adopted Stevie FNA Kabob. Ron was so easy to love, a big teddy bear, a man of God, and a perfect addition to our rescue family. He was always incredibly engaging with our social media and talked about his goals of helping us build our “fan base”.
Ron lived an exciting life and wore many hats throughout, from family man, to combat medic, to NICU nurse. Ron was a proud veteran and loved his family and Stevie more than anything in the world. 💓
I had the pleasure of having lunch with Ron and Stevie one day where we shared exciting bits of our lives as well as some of our traumas. Ron was a prayer warrior and incredibly supportive while I came to terms with the rescue not working out the way I had hoped. I’d like to share one of the last messages I received from Ron that I think shows what a beautiful and compassionate soul he was. I had just told him life was kind of heavy and I had a lot going on…
“Me and Stevie pray for you every day. I’m a huge fan of you no matter what you do. You don’t have to do anything just be you, but I don’t believe in coincidences. There’s a reason that God brought you and I together I believe in Providence and I don’t know what that reason is right now but I do know that I’m praying for you and that we love you and we miss you. Come and sit and share some of that load with me I can help you carry it. I got big shoulders.” 🥹
Thank you to all who donated towards his adoption of Stevie and for the support you showed him during his earlier hospitalization. I know Ron was so grateful for all of you. Stevie is safe and I’ve reached out to his daughter to see what we can do to help.

Thank you for sharing your love with Stevie and our rescue family. I know you are happily home with your creator but the love and light you radiated will be so greatly missed. Steady as she goes my friend 🚢⚓️
