🚨🐈⬛ MAYDAY MONDAY! MAYDAY MONDAY! 🐈⬛🚨
Houston, we have a HOUSE PANTHER situation!
Meet Raya! 🖤
In April 2023, this gorgeous girl came into my life at just TWO DAYS OLD, along with her sister, Ruby.
Eyes closed. Ears folded. Tiny little bodies that fit in the palm of my hand. Completely dependent on someone to keep them alive.
That someone was me. I bottle-raised these girls through the sleepless nights, endless feedings, and all the little milestones that come with raising orphaned newborn kittens.
Eventually, Raya and Ruby were adopted together by a wonderful gentleman who has loved and cared for them ever since.
Unfortunately, we now find ourselves in a situation nobody wanted.
Raya is a lover with a little extra attitude! She’s affectionate, independent, and has always preferred to do things on HER terms. She’s also a little mouthy, particularly when she has something important to communicate. Like the fact that breakfast is approximately 37 seconds late.
Her beloved human is an elderly gentleman whose skin has become extremely thin and fragile with age. What might not break the skin of someone else can unfortunately cause an injury to his.
Raya has a habit of giving what he affectionately calls her “love bites.” While he insists she isn’t vicious or deliberately attacking him, those nibbles have repeatedly broken his delicate skin, leading to serious infections and hospitalizations.
He absolutely adores both Raya and Ruby and wishes he could keep them together forever.
But after multiple hospitalizations, he simply cannot risk another injury.
This isn’t a cat who has stopped being loved. It’s a cat whose beloved human can no longer safely care for her.
And that’s where we need YOUR help!
🐾 Raya is approximately 3½ years old.
🐾 She’s a stunning black house panther with mesmerizing golden eyes.
🐾 She’s affectionate but values her personal space and boundaries.
🐾 She has a history of mouthing and biting that has broken skin, so an experienced, patient caregiver is essential.
🐾 We believe she would do best in a calm, adult-only home, preferably as the only cat.
🐾 We’re seeking an experienced FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!
Raya isn’t a bad cat. She’s a cat with a big personality who needs someone who understands feline behavior, recognizes her boundaries, and can provide a safe, stable environment.
Her sister Ruby will remain in the home they’ve shared, where she is deeply loved.
We’re hoping to find Raya a suitable placement without having to bring her back into our already overcrowded rescue environment.
I was there when Raya opened her eyes for the very first time. Now I’m hoping someone will open their heart and give her another chance. 🖤
If you have experience with cats who have strong personalities and think you might be the right person for Raya, please reach out to Misfit Animal Project & Rescue!
And if you can’t foster or adopt, PLEASE SHARE!
Because sometimes the right home isn’t the first one that sees a post.
It’s the one that sees it because somebody else cared enough to share it.
