Enchanting history of the Biro Yorkshire Terrier✨
Many people are familiar with the glamorous charm of the traditional Yorkshire Terrier, but fewer know the fascinating story behind one of its rarest and most beautiful relatives the Biro Yorkshire Terrier. These stunning chocolate toned little treasures have a surprisingly recent & well~documented origin story that began in Germany & quickly captured the hearts of toy breed enthusiasts worldwide.
The Biro Terrier’s story begins with breeders Roberto Krah & J. Lutz of the well~known Art of Highclass Kennel in Germany. On December 1st, 2004, a very special puppy was born.. A female named Art of Highclass Relight My Chocolate Fire. She was unlike her littermates. While most puppies carried the typical black, tan, & white coloration seen in the Biewer Terrier, this little girl displayed a unique chocolate, gold, & white tri~color coat.
Her dam, Alisha vom WasserschlöBchen, had produced four puppies in the litter. Three carried the classic Biewer coloring, but the fourth puppy; Relight My Chocolate Fire introduced a completely new expression of color caused by the recessive chocolate gene. This marked the beginning of what would become the Biro Yorkshire Terrier. Shortly after, another chocolate tri~color female appeared from a different German kennel owned by breeders Birgit Rösner and N. P***k. This puppy was named Little Princess from the Lighting Showboy. With two similar puppies appearing independently, breeders realized this was not simply a one~time anomaly but the beginning of a new color line worth preserving. From that point forward, careful breeding programs began to develop & stabilize the chocolate based tri~color pattern, giving rise to the Biro Yorkshire Terrier recognized today. What makes the Biro Terrier so unique?! Biro Terriers share the same elegant structure, silky coat, & lively personality as their close relatives, but their coloration sets them apart. Instead of the black pigment seen in the Biewer, the Biro carries a rich chocolate base combined with gold & white markings, producing a softer & warmer tri~color appearance.
Their closest relatives include:
🐾The Yorkshire Terrier~ the original foundation of the breed.
🐾The Biewer Terrier~ the black, tan, & white colored cousin developed in Germany in the 1980s.
🐾The Biro Yorkshire Terrier~ the chocolate tri~color variation that emerged in 2004.
Though rarer than the Biewer, the Biro Terrier has steadily gained admiration among enthusiasts who appreciate its distinctive coloring, elegant coat, & affectionate temperament. Today these beautiful dogs can be found around the world, treasured not only for their rarity but also for their playful spirit, intelligence, & devoted companionship.
For those of us passionate about preserving this line, the Biro Terrier represents something truly special a blend of history, genetics, & a touch of serendipity that created one of the most captivating little companions in the toy dog world. A tiny breed with a very big story.🤎🤍🐾

🍀HAPPY TAILS🍀
On this beautiful St. Patrick’s Day my darling Valentino began the most important journey of his life, the journey to his forever home. Sweet, affectionate, and endlessly charming, Valentino has always been a very special little boy. From his earliest days he carried a gentle spirit and a loving nature that made him impossible not to adore. This evening I had the pleasure of watching him step into the arms of the family who had been waiting just for him. There is something wonderfully fitting about a puppy as precious as Valentino finding his home on a day that celebrates luck and blessings. Like a tiny treasure discovered at the end of a rainbow, he has brought joy to everyone who has met him and now that joy will continue in the home that is lucky enough to call him theirs. While every goodbye is bittersweet, my heart is so full knowing this special boy has found a home where he will be adored by 2 little princesses. Wishing Valentino and his beautiful new family a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and shamrock kissed happiness. 💚🐾🍀

Please allow me to introduce the handsome pride of my nursery, Gibbons Of Umber Silken Ribbons.🤎🤍
At two years old, he is the magnificent sire of my current litter and a wonderful representation of the quality and temperament I strive to preserve.
Gibbons is adorned in a breathtaking, chocolaty roan ivory-ticked silk fur coat, a rich and beautifully textured coloring that gives him an incredibly distinguished look. Beyond his striking appearance, he possesses a wonderful, steady charm and an affectionate spirit that he proudly passes down to his puppies. He is a truly exceptional father, and seeing his beautiful traits so clearly reflected in this new litter is an absolute joy.🐾✨
A little genealogy; The rich, chocolaty tones present in Gibbons's coat come from the B-locus.
For a dog to be chocolate, it must inherit two recessive copies: bb. His coloration comes from this recessive brown gene, altering what would be black pigment into a beautiful, deep brown tone.
The white areas come from the S-locus (MITF gene), specifically inheriting two recessive copies: sp/sp, known as piebald spotting. This gene is responsible for the white base coat where his other colors appear as patches. Adding to his striking appearance is the T-locus, responsible for his ticking and roaning (T/). This gene expresses itself by adding those beautiful, heavily freckled spots of color throughout his white piebald areas, creating his signature ivory-ticked silk look. Lastly, the warm caramel tones on the muzzle and furnishings that can be found come from the A-locus (agouti gene), known as the at/at tan point placement gene. As a breeder, it is important to understand the genetic makeup of the puppies you are producing; this knowledge aids in the prediction of traits puppies will potentially inherit from future litters and pairings.

Allow me to introduce the heart of my nursery, Whisper In The Wind.🤎🤍
At three years old, she is the devoted mother of my current litter and a wonderful example of the beauty and temperament I strive to preserve. Whisper carries Czech Republican lineage, bringing with her a heritage known for its elegance and quality. She is adorned in a stunning coat of umber & ivory silk, colors that naturally appear balanced and clearly separated, producing a beautiful Biro tri-colored look. Beyond her striking appearance, Whisper is an incredibly attentive and nurturing dam whose calm, affectionate nature shines through in each one of her puppies. Watching her lovingly raise this litter has truly been something special.🐾✨
A little genealogy; The rich brown tones present come from the B-locus. For a dog to be chocolate, it must inherit two recessive copies: bb. Which converts all normally black pigment into liver or chocolate brown. Whisper’s coloration comes from the recessive brown gene, altering black pigment into a deep brown tone. The white areas come from the S-locus (MITF gene) or sp/sp known as piebald spotting. This gene is responsible for the white base coat where other colors appear as patches.
Lastly the warm caramel tones on the muzzle and furnishings that can be found come from the A-locus (agouti gene) known as at/at tan point placement gene. As a breeder, it is important to understand the genetic make up of the puppies you are producing in turn also helps predict what puppies might produce in future litters or pairings. 🧬

This morning, our little nursery crew had an important outing to Mayfair Animal Hospital .🐾
Mama and the babies got to meet the wonderful Dr. Hall, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how beautifully everyone did. From loving on everybody in the lobby to giving the doctor kisses after their pokes. They were absolute stars, confident, curious, and so well-behaved for their physical exams.

Today’s visit included:
✨ Distemper vaccinations
✨ Rabies 1 yr. vaccinations
✨ Their very first dose of Sentinel

For those who may not know, Sentinel is a monthly preventative that protects against:
• Heartworm disease
• Hookworms
• Roundworms
• Tapeworms
• Immature fleas

Proactive, preventative care is something I take very seriously. Ensuring my puppies receive proper veterinary attention from the very beginning sets the foundation for a lifetime of health and well-being. I’m so proud of this sweet little crew; healthy, thriving, and right on track to go to their forever families this weekend.🤍🤎

Do You Ever Wonder How Your Yorkshire Terrier’s Weight Is Predicted? 🐾

It begins just 1 week after birth..
As breeders or as I like to refer to myself as a canine preservationist, we begin tracking weight immediately. Those early numbers help us estimate what your Yorkshire Terrier will weigh as an adult. This chart is a simple projection tool based on consistent weekly growth patterns in toy specific breeds.

Here’s how to use it👇🏼

👉🏼 Step 1: Find Your Puppy’s 1 Week Weight Mark
Look across the top row for the weight your puppy was at 1 week of age (example: 3 oz, 3.5 oz, 4 oz, etc.).

👉🏼 Step 2: Follow the Column Down
Once you locate that starting weight, follow that column straight down as the weeks progress.

👉🏼 Step 3: Check between 12~16 Weeks for a Clearer Estimate. By 12~16 weeks, you’ll have a much more reliable idea of where your puppy’s weight is trending.

👉🏼 Step 4: Look at the Bottom Row (18 Months)
The bottom row shows the projected adult weight at 18 months, which is considered mature weight for a Yorkshire Terrier.

💡 For Example:
If your puppy weighed 4 oz at week 1, you would follow that column down. At 12 weeks they may be around 30 oz, and the projected adult weight would be approximately 4 lbs.

A few concepts to keep in mind are; This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Genetics, nutrition, and overall health all play a role in development. Consistent weekly weigh-ins give the most accurate projections. I love tracking growth because it helps families understand whether they’re expecting a tiny teacup weighing 4 lbs or less or a sturdier 6 lb companion. Either way… every size is perfection in a Yorkie package.🤎🤍
