I am so lucky to get to hang out with these special doggies all week. It has been a blast so far! I make sure to give each one love and attention because each one has his or her own needs and preferences!

I know I make it look like I'm just outside playing and having fun with dogs (and I definitely am), but it takes a lot more knowledge to manage a group of dogs. When I was volunteering at Habersham Animal Shelter, I attended a two week long training by Dogs Playing for Life whose mission is to get shelter dogs adopted by creating playgroups that show people the dogs' true personalities and friendliness. I use what I learned to help me get to know their personalities and watch dog body language for signs or stress constantly to make sure no dog is getting too stressed by another dog, and to create a good playgroup based on play style. In addition, I know how to deescalate a potential issue before it starts. I also have areas for time out and three strikes rule. I don't allow dogs to be disrespectful to another dog in my care. I redirect unwanted behavior like hu***ng, but if it continues the dog cannot stay in playgroup for daycare the rest of a.m. portion after three times. They are given another chance during the p.m. However, if the undesired behavior continues, the dog is removed again. I do let the owner know of problem behaviors as they arrive.

These types of boundaries are safely practiced at doggy daycare, so if you are looking for someone to teach your dog how to play nice with others, doggy daycare at Adventure Awaits Fido! does help dogs learn acceptable behavior around other dogs. It is somewhat breed and personality along with practicing manners, though. Doggy daycare can also help your dog to not be as stressed when boarding for a longer duration. It's nice to leave your dog before heading on the big trip, so your dog doesn't think you are abandoning him or her. Doggy daycare also allows your dog to make friends with the regulars and my dogs, so it's time to play upon arrival. We can skip the awkard beginning stages of making friends. Lastly, doggy daycare helps me know your dog and that makes me be a better dog handler. I know your dog when I am not managing to learn all 6 dogs personalities at a time. If you are planning of boarding at Adventure Awaits Fido!, I would encourage you to bring your dog to daycare to see if it is a good fit and help your dog transition into a longer stay. (All the dogs except Rigsby have stayed with me multiple times, so that's why it's a pretty easy week for us despite it being busier than normal!)

🎟 6 tickets to movie 🎞 night for our guests! No 🍿, but all the dogs enjoyed watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves while getting pets and cuddles ...even though some kept getting up during the movie 🙃

( I need a couch with a bed to improve the experience!)

Wavy, still a puppy loves to play! Only 3 pounds, but she bounces, runs, bites at the rope (and tries to bite my hand) and any toy you put in front of her. Don't let that adorable face fool you into thinking small dogs are any easier than big dogs. These pictures are only a few that I somehow managed to capture her sitting stilling. 😅

Drop-in visits to this mini farm! Adventure Awaits Fido and also takes care of sheep, goats, and chickens 🐔 ! This corgi mix, Rowdy, was definitely herding the sheep, but the sheep and the cute little lamb were having fun and playing along. I think they wanted to be chased. They were still running even after Rowdy gave up 😅

A sleepy start to Spring Break 2025! Butch, the bulldog, is the master at sleeping, and she is the sensei to the these eager students. A great sensei, indeed.

Accidental litters of puppies or kittens? This program at Northeast Georgia Humane Society is free and helps. Not only will the kittens and puppies be spayed or neutered, the momma will be spayed, too. The puppies and kittens will be found loving homes.

Please spay and neuter to help decrease overpopulation crisis that shelters face every single day. Spaying and neutering your pets helps save the life of a dog or cat that ends up in the shelter that cannot be adopted soon enough and has to be killed for space so that another dog or cat can have a chance at adoption. Choose to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Smiling doggies is what it is all about here at Adventure Awaits Fido! Spring Break 2025 is right around the corner, so don't skip it just because you have SO MANY dogs, or you don't know where they can stay at such short notice. We still have availability for fido to board, or we do drop-in visits available where we go to your house to take care of them up to 3 times a day. Message me to schedule a meet and greet. The first time Trudy visited us, she was such a fearful dog. She was newly adopted from a rescue, and we spent a lot of time just feeding her treats to get her to get closer and eventually sit beside us, especially Chuck, my partner, because she was more frightened of men than women. She would be polite to dogs but stand at a distance for the most part.
Last week she stayed for the third time, and her real personality shines through more and more each time. Now, she cuddles right next to ask me to pet her, sits right beside us on the couch, sleeps beside Mia, our German shepherd. She even likes to join the dogs in their games, sometimes. And she's suprisingly spry for her age. She loves to watch the young ones play, and everyone knows if she's lying down, to respect her space.

Trudy and her owner inspire me because Trudy could have just been a shelter dog for the rest of her life, and her owner specifically wanted an older rescue shepherd. Currently, she gets walks, trips to the dog park, the good treats, her choice of dog beds, and lots of love and attention. We are lucky to have Trudy in our lives.

Adorable, sweet, and playful labrador retriever girls, Bleu and Freyja, were so well-behaved during the pet sit. Always ready for fetch, and they tell you by staring at you with their big, pleading eyes. Even when we are inside, there is usually a large plushy toy hanging out of their mouths. 💞

I watch the dogs at all times, but most the time, they are watching me👁, too. I am the entertainment. When I say, "place," "sit," "down," or "stay," they know it's going to be raining yummy snacks🥓. Georgia (one with the harness)is new, so we are going to work on place and stay, but she did wonderful with sit😃 The dogs love mental stimulation 🧠, and when you teach them something, they have to think, and thinking makes them tired dogs. A tired dog is a happy dog and so much more relaxing to be around, especially if you already had a stressful day at work and still more chores to do at home and kids to take care of, too.

Half day (4 hours or less) is only $15. A full day of doggy daycare is $25. Boarding (first dog) is $50 nightly with daycare included, so call me at 706-780-2112 to schedule fido's doggy daycare day or boarding today. Pickup and drop off available. Sunrise hike with Miss Luna at Lake Toccoa yesterday morning! It was nearby, so why not give a dog what she wants! She was beyond thrilled when I arrived, jumped in the truck, and wouldn't even get out to say goodbye to the family. 🤣 She knew she was going to see her friends at Adventure Awaits Fido! The walk was an extra surprise. I love to spoil dogs. I find peace in nature and hiking, and my goal is to get as many dogs outside and active as possible.
