Happy December 1 to all who celebrate! For hopeful Thoroughbred Makeover trainers, today is a bit of a holiday: it marks the date that horses can beginning retraining for the next Thoroughbred Makeover retraining competition. Horse and rider partnerships have the next 10 months to prepare for one or two of ten riding disciplines to be showcased at the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover at the Kentucky Horse Park on October 7-10.

Horses are allowed a maximum of 15 retraining rides prior to December 1, intended to serve for assessment purposes, and horses cannot have competed in any shows prior to December 1. Full horse eligibility rules can be found at https://bit.ly/3KzYogL

Trainer applications will open for drafting on December 15, and can be submitted January 5-23, 2026.

I've been a bit lax on listing the horses we have available. It seems like Nov - Jan is a complete blur! We try to survive birthdays, the holidays and mother nature's temper tantrums!

Here is a brief list of who is available!

1. Macs Cat. 5 year, 16.1 hand gelding. Clean, sound, no vices or injuries. RRP Eligible. Mid ###X

2. Lightning Charlie. 6 year old 15.2 hand CHONK of a gelding. Fancy like Applebee's! Clean, sound, no vices or injuries. Prefers shoes. RRP eligible. Highest of ###X

3. Dexter 14-15 year old grade paint pony horse. EASY keeper. Lovely guy. Incredible canter. Jumps, trail experience - all around nice fella. 15.3 hand block with tree trunks for legs. Perfect youth type mount. Has a motor when asked. Mid ###X

4. Lena Kahlena. 4 year old 15.1 hand pocket rocket. RRP Eligible. Broke broke - quick on her feet. This is my personal horse - I don't offer them very often. Floaty trot - just an all around good girl. Lots of heart and kind. So kind. Mid/Upper ###X

5. Pony APHA/Pinto Papered 11 year old 16.1 hand gelding. Has been a pony horse. Has been a lawn mower. Trail rides. Kind of opinionated. No issues, vices or injuries. Solid horse. Easy on the eyes. High ###X
