One of the most important parts of owning an Anatolian Shepherd or any LGD breed is socialization.
Socialization starts here on our homestead and is encouraged to continue after they leave us while they are still young. These training/socialization sessions should be consistent and concentrated on rewarding/praising good behavior vs scolding/punishing bad behavior. These dogs naturally bond with their family/charges and question everything. They are free thinking and are slowly figuring out the world around them whether you show it to them or not. The more they are exposed to (sights, sounds, terrains, smells) the better they are able to self regulate and identify real “threats” vs simply “react” to something new/different. This is not accomplished in a day, a week or a month. Socialization and training is a long term commitment that all new puppy parents should be committed to regardless of breed.
