Things have been quiet on the page, but not here at the rescue.
I know I don't post constant updates.
Since it's back to being just me(and a handful of amazing volunteers), I've been being more intentional with my time.
Don't get me wrong, these dogs need forever homes. And if they're still on our adoptable list on our Petfinder link, they're available(or pending).
I'm not in the business of flipping dogs though. When I bring them in, they will go to several vet appointments. They will be fixed. They will heal. They will be tested around other dogs, around kids, around cats. They will start being worked with to walk on a leash, because most have never even seen one let alone been on one.
I want to make sure I know these dogs as best I can in the short time I've had them. I want to be able to tell potential adopters "hey this dog does/does not like this". I want to set them up for the very best outcome.
I send the dogs that reeeally need it to training for 4-6 weeks. Because sometimes in order for them to have the confidence they need to thrive in a forever home, they need to gain some skills that I don't have the time in rescue to work on.
I'm not going to bring dozens of dogs in a month. Not only do I not have the space to bring in more, I am a wife and a mother and a human with my own hobbies. Rescue DESTROYS your mental health. Compassion fatigue is so real in the rescue world. People end their own lives in this world SO OFTEN because of how taxing it is, mentally and physically and emotionally. I'm only going to do as much as I can healthily manage.
That doesn't mean I care any less about the animals that need help.
But you can't empty the ocean with a teacup. And I can't pour from an empty cup either.
So while things may be quieter here, I promise everyone is still getting care and attention. I'm still helping in the community, I just don't post about it every single time. It's not about a pat on the back for me, it's about making a difference and doing what I can. I may move quietly, but I'm still making moves. You can trust that. 🩷
We've had several things going on this month, event wise and vet wise.
Lilah has a promising application.
Pippa has a promising application.
Cooper has an application and it's a situation I haven't gone through before.
Sasha has a promising application.
Dolores has spent several days at the vet office lately. Some overnight. She had to have a second surgery after her spay, and then sneakily chewed her incision and had to have another surgery to get it fixed.
Cupcake 🐈 is in a foster home and just about ready to go on our available list.
Sprinkles 🐈 went to the vet and unfortunately got news that she is special needs. 😕
We still have TWO dogs in boarding that need out IMMEDIATELY to make room for their holiday clients.
This Saturday, on Halloween morning, we will be downtown at War Memorial Pavillion joining our friends at Epilepsy Foundation Arkansas for their walk. We'll have dogs for people to check out and take on their walk, merch, and more. The dogs will be dressed up, and we're so excited. Come see us!!
Now that soccer season is over and I'm not tied up coaching 3 days a week, I'll be able to be more present. Don't expect a dozen posts a day, but there will be more regular updates. I'm also working with a volunteer to start getting some amazing pictures of each pup. 🩷
Thank you for always supporting the dogs. Thank you for sharing posts, donating, volunteering.
I hope everyone has a good rest of their Sunday. 🫶🏽
