APRON

In 2013, Austin Progressive Met Center employees generously donated time, thousands of dollars, and various goods to help neighbors, and furry friends, throughout Central Texas. Some of the events and beneficiaries included Relay for Life, Austin Pets Alive, the Capital Area Food Bank, Dress for Success, Safe Place and more. These are only a few of the wonderful things Progressive people have done

as a group and it doesn’t include all the individual things many of you do daily that make Central Texas a great place to live. Beginning in early 2Q14, the Austin Met Center formed a volunteer team we are calling “APRON” – Austin Partnership for Reaching Out to Neighbors. The APRON team consists of leaders, as outlined below, from various business units throughout the Austin Met Center to combine individual business unit efforts and expand Progressive’s reach in the community. Personal Lines – Leah , Alysa, Sonya and Nanette
Corporate – Aimee

If you are interested in giving back to your community or attending volunteer events, keep your eyes out for upcoming communication from APRON. For some events that take place off-site, we will have limited space available for volunteers so you will need to act fast if you are interested in attending! If the events are successful, we will consider expanding the number of volunteer spots for future events. For now, APRON is busy planning the following -

1. September We will help a local non-profit install an organic food garden,
2. Capital Area Food Bank collection, delivery, and sorting, 2. Pet related volunteer event, 3. Veteran collection drive to support the Recycled Rides delivery in November,
3. November 1. APRON partners with local ERG to participate in Diabetes walk, 2. Coats for Kids, 3. Recycled Rides – APRON partnering with the Claims Service Center to deliver vehicles,
4. December 1. Ronald McDonald House, 2. Employee Art Bizarre (with non-profit beneficiary), and 3. Brown Santa
