Petco in Arlington (Green Oaks/Pleasant Ridge) has $10 dog adoptions today. Chipped, spayed/neutered. They had several medium to large dogs. All seemed extremely friendly. FYI

As we all know, it’s COLD!!! Please bring your pets inside. While taking them for walks or letting them out for potty breaks or to explore (especially cats), make sure they have shelter and have fresh water (NOT FROZEN, check regularly), and bring them in when you can. On walks with the doggins, think about their paws! If you have feral cats, please try and do the same. If you have shelters, use straw ONLY. NO blankets or hay.
Be safe and keep your animals safe.

Whelp! Still hot here! My girls go out several times a day, for short periods of time, and then come in and drink tons of water. Remember to always have water available for your fur babies! Hydration is key! Walks In am and pm for their paws. I went to get my mail yesterday barefooted and immediately regretted it! Too hot for me to go 50ft, it is too hot for them to go on a longer walk.

Sorry I have been off the site for a while! I got thrown in FB jail for joking with a friend. 🙄
Anyway, as you all know, we are having record breaking temps this summer, so keep your pups and cats hydrated and cool. If it’s too hot for your feet, it’s too hot for your dogs, so try and walk them in the early am, and the evening. I know they need to go out more than that (obviously), but, if you can find shady places, that will be best for their paws.
Inside. If your ac is working as hard as mine is, adding a couple of fans can help.
Oh! Also! Your light colored animals need sunscreen. You can get it online or at petco. Actually, all of us need sunscreen!
Be safe! HYDRATION IS KEY! ❤️😊❤️

Last night was a cold one! Today will be warmer! Welcome to Texas! If it gets cold out and you have outdoor cats, and dogs that go outside that have water bowls, makes sure that they are not frozen, and that they have plenty of food and water. As far as out door cats (feral cats) tap on the hood of your car several times before starting your car. They like to crawl into engines for warmth.

Remember, hot sidewalks, roads, and even lawns, equals hot paws.
LOTS OF HYDRATION!
Sunscreen. They make it for our fur babies.
And, of course, flea, tick and HW prevention.

Yay!!! Summer is almost here, COVID is calming down, so it’s time to travel! Book early!

Things to remember, as always:

It get’s hot in TX quick. Hydrate your pets!
If you have outside pets, make sure they have plenty of water. Another cool thing to do is fill milk cartons with water, freeze them and place them in a bowl outside. Great for all outside animals, including opossums, squirrels and birds.

If the pavement is too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for bare paws! You can buy paw booties on Amazon or Chewy. They are pretty inexpensive, and most dogs get used to them quickly.

If you have water dogs, or take your dogs to creeks and lakes frequently, make sure to watch the news for water restrictions for canine swimmers. If we can’t swim in the water, they certainly can’t!

Mosquito season! Make sure your pets are on HW prevention!

Our summer is coming in sooner than expected! 97 today in Austin, TX. Make sure your pets are well hydrated while outside, and if the concrete or asphalt is too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for paws. Also, mosquito, flea and tick time! Make sure your pets are up to date on HW and flea prevention. Have a great Spring/Summer!

Ok! We made it past the storm of the century. It’s now time to be ready for spring and mosquitoes! Yay, said no one. Please keep all of your babies up to date on the heart worm checks, meds, and flea medications. It gets hot very quickly in Texas, so we have to be be prepared. Lots of hydration, inside, and not too hot paws! Stay safe spring. I think we are going to have an early summer!
