I finally have my New Year’s picture. Thank you to Malea of Olive Rose Silkies for this lovely little blue/cream harlequin English angora doe 🥰. Her name is Mochi Mae, my new copilot. Mochi did well riding shotgun lol. And two more new bunnies came home with me from my good friend, Vanessa Rich, of Giggling Goat Creations. Vanessa and I met for lunch at Gabby Goat Bar and Grill in Effingham, IL, which we quickly found out had absolutely nothing to do with goats 😂. No matter the origin of the name, we had a great time ❤️. Bunnies and friendship, friendship and bunnies. And fiber. Now that’s the way to start a new year! 2026 is off to a great start!
2025 brought a lot of changes for us: little changes like changing our name from Heart of Texas Rabbitry to Hearts of Texas Fiber Farm (but we are still HOT!) and big changes like moving from Austin, Texas, to Fredericktown, Missouri. We left the city for a farm. We left a climate controlled rabbitry for something a bit more au naturale. We got sheep!…and a number of other farm critters. We partook of the bounty of the land. We made more friends. It was a stressful and crazy but good year but I’m glad it’s over and I’m ready to move on. I’m ready for some normalcy and normalcy is coming. Lodging is booked and PTO approved- time to make it to some shows!
Look out 2026 because Mochi Mae and I are on our way!

Spent this past weekend with my bunnies. I love this cute little blue/cream harli SA and baby English resent tattooing the most of all bunnies. Gift is a black/fawn harli SA and Lip is a VM black German with a gorgeous coat.

One last video before the week begins. Oh baby English angora when it comes to whining you are the husky of the rabbit world!

FYI: the entire litter of 6 does this every single time I blow out their coats.

When I first go out to do rabbit chores there is a lot of rattling and banging- bunnies are excited to see the giver of food and water!

And there is this sound. Peace.

Life on the farm. This morning’s chores adorned with glittering snow. But two days before was spent plugging drafts with feed bags stuffed with the hay that had been dropped by the rabbits. I had just enough time to groom one more fluffy and build a pen for the growing RIR chicks.

Plugging drafts has definitely helped- the water cups are staying thawed even when the outside temp is down to 27 or so. My next big rabbitry upgrade goal is to hire someone to insulate with spray foam and install attic fans. It will make a huge difference.

Woulda coulda shoulda.

Finally getting time to pull out the Convention grow outs 😂 HOT Dominico is all dressed up with no place to go now. It’s alright. Sometimes time moves a lot faster than I do.

Speaking of Convention, Laura Parker Clark brought me this awesome Sheep Crossing sign. I think it looks really good!

Laura also brought me my lovely new white satin buck. He is super sweet and I think my two white satin does G1 and G2 will both like him. Yay for shiny bunnies! This buck hails from New York state from Robert N. Smith, Brier Hill Cottage Rabbitry. Thank you, Robert!

Morning chores in November. It’s why I don’t have any good baby pics right now 🤪

Chores before the sun comes up then off to work and don’t get home until the sun goes down. Thank goodness for LED lights that make seeing in the dark easier!

It’s been a busy year to say the least and I was not able to coat out rabbits for or go to this year’s ARBA Convention. However, I was able to send a few angora fleeces to the NARBC Wool-Skein-Garment competition and butter my butt and call me a biscuit if one of them wasn’t awarded not only Best English Angora Whole Fleece and Best Wool but Best In Show!

Of course the fleece came from Flowering Acres Furret who came to me from her breeder, the inestimable and habitual rabbit show Best In Show exhibitor, Debby Furlong. I have to thank Debby for sharing this sweet bunny with me as she has sold off rabbits in preparation for her retirement from breeding and showing rabbits. Thank you, Debby!

And thank you, Nicki Chapin, for the time and attention you give to judging. A BIS coming from you means a lot! Finally, I want to extend a hearty thanks to Vanessa Rich who runs a terrific competition.

I’m hoping for things to slow down over the winter at which point I can find time to sit down and dust off the drop spindle and start cranking out some yarn entries or maybe even learn to use that yarn to knit or crochet more WSG entries.

HOT Gift. I am loving the wool texture she got from papa GGC Cashel and happy she is Japanese from her mama HOT Splitty.
