I am so sad 😢, so very sad 😢. My FB friend Kerstyn Parent made the most unselfish decision to let her GSP pup Pongo cross the rainbow bridge. Pongo had lupus and it could have been prevented if testing had been done. Kerstyn advocates for testing and will help anyone and has helped Zoey in so many ways. She and Pongo have been so supportive of Zoey and myself, you cannot imagine.
From Maine to Michigan ❤❤❤
We said goodbye to Pongo yesterday after enjoying 4 hours in the sun and playing ball. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day for him to celebrate his last day in the World. He is now pain free and now can run in fields in the sun.
I know Dallas greeted him at the Bridge and they talked for hours, it was their game every night... talking back and forth for at least 10 minutes. He is also once again with his Lupus sister Pepper. He loved snuggling with Pepper as they both understood one another. When we camped with Peppers Owners, we would always put Pongo and Pepper in my camper and they would lay on the Bunk bed together. One time we covered Pepper with Pongo's Star Wars blanket, oh goodness did he have a fit! I has to give that blanket back to Pongo and grab a different one for Pepper.
We will continue to educate and spread awareness of ECLE and always help others with the knowledge we gained.
The Lupus did not end his life, we are pretty sure he was battling Prostate Cancer even though it wasn't showing in the blood test. We also were losing the battle to his Lick Granuloma.
It was the hardest decision ever to let him go, but honestly it was the right thing to do.
God Bless everyone that has helped us through this. We can't express our gratitude enough.
Thank you to Judit Punk for taking care of his page while we are trying to heal from this huge loss.
Thank you to my awesome friends who called, messaged, posted and prayed for us.
Thank you to Krystal Rector (who btw was Pongo's first FB follower) and Emily for being with me and Pongo yesterday.
Ken and I send our love to everyone! ❤
