🐾 FRIDAY CHECK-IN! 🐾

A little bit of everything from this crew this week! 💙

We’ve been working on obedience, confidence, engagement, impulse control, and learning how to just exist calmly while the world keeps moving around them.

Some moments are big wins. Some are tiny wins that nobody else would even notice. And some are just the everyday repetitions that eventually turn into reliable, real-world dogs. 🙌

Everyone is settling in, working hard, and making progress — and we’re having a whole lot of fun along the way.

🐾 Meet Our Newest Training Crew! 🐾

We’ve got four new faces settling in at Unleashed Freedom K9 Academy this week!

🩵 Blakely is here to build confidence, polish obedience, and become the very best version of herself.

🖤 Mystic has the same goal—learning solid obedience, building confidence, and gaining the skills to be an amazing companion.

🤎 Ridley and ❤️ Tiki have a special journey ahead of them. Mom recently foster-failed Ridley (because… how could you not? 🥹), but introducing two dogs isn’t always as simple as opening a gate. They’re here to build confidence, develop reliable obedience, and let us carefully guide their introductions so they can start their relationship off on the right paw.

We’re excited to watch all four of these pups grow over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for plenty of updates as they learn, gain confidence, and have a little fun along the way!

Three more incredible dogs headed home today! 🩵🐾

Ellie came to us full of confidence in all the wrong ways. She was sassy, pushy, nervous around strangers, refused to listen to anyone in her family and wasn’t afraid to use her teeth to get what she wanted. Watching her learn that calmness, clear communication, and trust open so many more doors has been incredibly rewarding. Today, when she got home, she sat on her girls lap and licked her face instead of biting her arms. 🥰

Hank & Henry joined us together for an intensive two-week program. Their family wanted dogs they could confidently take out into the community, and these boys rose to the challenge. From better manners and engagement to reliable obedience and confidence in new environments, they made huge strides every single day. They even mastered walking in a beautiful heel together, in the parking lot of The Eastern Michigan State Fair.

Every dog that comes through our doors has a different story, different struggles, and different goals. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and that’s exactly why we love what we do.

We’re so proud of all three of these pups and can’t wait to watch them continue to thrive at home. Congratulations, Ellie, Hank, and Henry! Go make your families proud! 💙🐕

Meet Hank & Henry! 🩵🐾

If these faces look familiar, it’s because they’re Harvey’s brothers!

Harvey recently completed his training with us, and he did so well that Mom decided it was time for the other two to have the same opportunity. We managed to squeeze Hank and Henry into a 2-week Board & Train, and we’re excited to get started!

Their family’s goal is simple: confidence, better manners, and the freedom to enjoy life together. Mom’s already dreaming about taking all three boys out to places like Lapeer Days without the stress. 😄

That’s one of our favorite parts of what we do. Training isn’t just about obedience—it’s about creating the kind of dog you can include in your everyday life.

Welcome to camp, boys! Let’s see what the next two weeks have in store. 💙🐾

🐾 Available for Adoption – Auggie 🐾

Auggie is a 6-month-old Bluetick Hound/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix looking for his forever home.

During his training program, Auggie made wonderful progress in his obedience, confidence, and ability to work through new environments. He is a smart, driven young dog who enjoys learning and thrives with clear structure and leadership.

Due to unforeseen changes in his family’s living situation, they have made the difficult decision to find Auggie a home that can better meet his needs long-term. Our goal is to help him transition into a home where he can continue to succeed.

Auggie would be an excellent fit for an active family committed to providing continued training, structure, and enrichment appropriate for his age and breed mix.

✨ Welcome Ellie to Camp! ✨

Don’t let that adorable face fool you… this little girl came with a whole lot of personality packed into a tiny body. 😂

Ellie is incredibly smart, young and already knows exactly how to work the room — unfortunately, that also means she’s been making a few executive decisions at home. She’s been struggling with meeting new people, pushing boundaries with her family, and using those puppy teeth to communicate when she doesn’t get her way.

She is fierce.
She is sassy.
She is spunky.
She is nervous.
She is playful.

Basically… she’s the full package. 😅

Underneath all that attitude is a young dog who just needs clarity, confidence, and leadership. Over the next few weeks we’ll be helping Ellie learn that she doesn’t have to control the world around her — she can slow down, trust her humans, and make better choices.

We can’t wait to watch this smart little firecracker grow. 💙🐾

One of the biggest mistakes I see dog owners make is trying to comfort their dog during moments of fear, stress, or anxiety.

Petting them.
Rubbing their ears.
Repeatedly saying, “It’s okay… it’s okay…”

The truth is, it’s not okay. Your dog is struggling in that moment.

For many dogs, physical affection and soothing words can reinforce the emotional state they’re in, making it more likely they’ll repeat those behaviors the next time they feel overwhelmed.

Instead of trying to comfort the emotion, provide clear leadership.

Ask for an extended command like Place, Sit, or Down. Give your dog something productive to focus on. Calm, consistent direction helps build confidence far more effectively than reassuring a fearful state of mind.

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do isn’t to comfort the fear—it’s to help your dog work through it.

Monday Pupdate! 🐾

We’re officially starting our final week! 🎉

It was a hot one today, but these pups handled it like champs. We spent the day practicing their drop-leash skills as we put the finishing touches on their off-leash reliability before they head home on Friday.

We’re so proud of how far each of them has come, and we can’t wait to show their families everything they’ve learned at camp! 🩵

Training Update! 🐾

Three dogs. Three fear-reactive stories. Three huge wins.

Queso has only been home for about two weeks after training. He’s already making huge strides. The dog who once bit mail carriers and chased off delivery drivers is now calmly ignoring them - and has even learned to ignore the squirrels he was once allowed to chase. This was his first lesson in public and we couldn’t be prouder of him.

🐾 Rosie had her final lesson before heading to her grandparents’ lake house. This is the first time her grandparents have felt comfortable having her there because of the progress she’s made. We can’t wait for the pictures of this weekends adventures!

🐾 Maya spent her lesson out on the trails in a beautiful heel next to her mom - a goal that once felt completely out of reach.

Every one of these dogs came to us because fear had become dangerous. One had already bitten. The other two were on that path.

Today, they’re walking through stores, exploring trails, and learning that they don’t have to face the world in survival mode.

Fear-reactive dogs aren’t hopeless. They don’t need to be “fixed”—they need someone to help them build confidence, trust, and clarity.

These moments may look simple to most people. But to these families… they’re everything. ❤️
