🐫Happy Hump Day from our camel, Wednesday! 🐫
Yes, his name really is Wednesday… so there’s no better midweek mascot. Two humps, big personality, and the perfect reminder that we’re officially over the hump and sliding toward the weekend. 🎉

Remember the three baby ostriches we posted a few weeks ago?? Well, they’ve officially upgraded to mini dinosaurs! 🦖😍 In just a short time, they’ve grown tremendously — and they’re still getting bigger every day. (We included a baby pic in case you missed it!)

This trio is like the Three Amigos, so we named them Uno, Dos, and Tres based on the order they hatched.

And yes… we’re completely obsessed with their eyelashes. Jealous, even. 😉

Our young bison is still learning his table manners! Right now, that means lots of slurping and dunking his little beard in the water. As he grows, that ‘beard’ will become one of the signature features of a full-grown bison. For now, we’ll let him practice… even if it’s a little messy. 🦬😍

From rescue to recess 🐻✨ Our baby bear is learning that life can be full of fun…. especially when it involves a slide! Watching them play reminds us why giving animals a second chance matters so much.❤️

🐾 Employee of the Month: Crow 🐾

She’s on duty 24/7.
Her responsibilities include:
✨ Greeting guests with her signature purr-sonality
✨ Supervising the team with impeccable style
✨ Patrolling and monitoring the zoo perimeter day and night
✨ Providing emotional support to staff and visitors alike

Crow first joined us as a tiny kitten, and now she runs the place. 🐈💼 We even dug up a baby picture so you can see just how far she’s come!

Just another normal day at the zoo…
Went in for a harmless little zebra nose boop.
Then the lips came out.

Absolutely no warning. Full drama. Zero regrets.
10/10 reaction. Would boop again — but maybe emotionally prepare first. 😂🦓

Want to help feed the animals?

We accept donations of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and select canned goods to help care for the 100+ rescued animals who call Chestatee Wildlife home. 🐾❤️

We’re open 7 days a week, 10 AM – 4 PM (last entry at 2:30), and donations can be dropped off during those hours.
We are closed only for inclement weather.

Sunday Spotlight: Ben & Jerry, Our Patagonian Cavies!

They may look like a mix between a rabbit and a tiny deer, but Ben and Jerry are actually Patagonian Cavies. They are large rodents, and two of the quirkiest animals at our zoo!

Native to Argentina, cavies are fast runners, great jumpers, and social little creatures who love to lounge in the sun and nibble on snacks. Today, only one of them felt like being on camera (and soaking up some Sunday scratches), but both are full of personality.

Stop by on your next visit and see if you can spot this laid-back duo relaxing or exploring their habitat!

The first week back can be ruff… just ask our tiger, who fully supports weekend zoomies to shake off that classroom energy.

We’re OPEN this weekend and ready to help your crew run wild, breathe some fresh air, and have some actual fun after a week of sitting still. 🐾📚☀️
