Maple is a 13 hand small pony mare and is available at a very reasonable lease rate. On-site only!

I am looking for a small and scrappy rider to get Maple back into shape. She has been a star leadline and camp pony this season of her life but has so much potential to do more. She will jump the moon, trail ride, and is a local celebrity at the horse shows. Unfortunately, I don’t have a rider in my program at this time who is size appropriate for her yet strong enough to keep her fit. She is a typical sassy small pony mare but an absolute blast to ride once you figure out her buttons.

The ideal rider would be no taller than 5’ and no more than 115lbs. Serious inquires only for this very special mare!👸🏻

I want my riders to feel welcome here and know it is always a safe haven where they can escape from the world that is often unkind. We had another great horse show at Life’s A Ride last weekend! One of the few horse outings we’ve been on recently where we didn’t get absolutely soaked. I didn’t snap many pictures other than some of Rosie and Daisy being the ultimate horse show kids. Rosie eating a poptart on top of Paddy and Daisy chasing after his sister in the warm-up.

Sometimes just the adults need to have a little fun. Yesterday, Crystal, Liz and myself set out on a horsey adventure. We went on a hunter pace at Branch Hill hosted by the Wentworth Hunt Club.

None of us really knew what to expect. Crystal is always up for an adventure and I usually just hop in the truck and figure it out when we get there. We had no idea it was going to be close to a 9 mile ride.🤣 But holy cow. Was it a blast!!

We got absolutely dumped rain on and flash floods turned the trails into rivers. The 3 of us giggled with joy as if we were pony kids again with not a single dry spot on any of us. I could not be more proud of Charlie, Spumoni and Crouton for navigating all of the elements with such ease. It’s always a great time with this gang and I can’t wait for our next adult horsey adventure.

Thank you to the Wentworth Hunt Club for being such welcoming hosts! And a big thank you to my trusty mount, soggy Crouton, who always makes me feel like a kid when I’m behind that wild pony mane. Tally ho!🏇

Busy season is in full swing which means the horses get some extra pampering. Goodness knows they are already spoiled on a regular basis.😜

During show season, our horses receive regular bodywork and chiropractic care from the magical Paul Perreault. The zen vibe floats throughout the farm whenever Paul visits. Georgia was blissed out in the barn aisle while the horses were being adjusted. Swipe to see the new guy’s droopy lip which says it all.😌

Our resident western rider, Pauline Kennedy, has been expanding our toolboxes in teaching us a different way to ride. Heck, it is fun, ya’ll!

Pauline’s kind and compassionate approach has been a natural addition to our list of offerings here at Windsong. Pauline has limited availability for beginner to intermediate western lessons so shoot us a message if you’re interested in saddling up on one of our versatile and reliable horses!

I’ve always said that walking into my barn feels like a church. Especially at golden hour when the light streams in through the back windows gently illuminating the horses. Regardless of your religious, social or political views, I’ve always held true to wanting to create a space of love, safety and acceptance and I believe I have done that.

I’m grateful to have had a lot of healing in this space and it’s something that I’ve always wanted to share with others. I’ve created a small group, book club, Bible study, friend circle, pony snuggle time… It doesn’t have an exact face yet but it does have a name and has been very graciously received. It is called Faith on the Farm.

Once a month, women and kiddos gather at my farm for small bites, community and critters. We are brought together by our faith and have been reading this beautiful book called A Bit of Earth. It talks about the seasons of life we go through; winter, mud season, spring and so on - with the reminder that no matter the weather, God is with us.

Thank you for those who have been to our first two gatherings. I am looking forward to seeing what this becomes. If you’re interested in joining us at our next one, feel free to shoot me a message. We’d love to have you.

My hay guy told me recently an old farmer’s saying: “A rainy May means a barn filled with hay.”

It’s been a bit of a dreary May here in Maine but we can’t let that overshadow the life that is springing forth before our eyes.

My lilac bush is exploding, we got the garden started yesterday, our baby chicks will be coming home soon, and everything is lush and green. I love spring in Maine. I feel rejuvenated, motivated and inspired. We have lots on the docket this season so keep your eyes here!

I ugly cried doing chores this morning.

My tractor plow broke and with wind gusts over 40mph slamming ice into my face while moving horses around, I was struggling.

This winter has been relentlessly brutal. The past several weeks the elements have been too dangerous to ride or teach so most of my days are spent plowing, keeping critters happy, and thawing out inbetween. It’s been a rough stretch but the moment I feel like giving up, my community comes in to help me back to my feet.

Thanks to Matt, Aili & Henley for coming to my rescue today calling in a welder to get my plow back up n’ running and pushing some snow for me.

A couple other God moments happened today that reminded me I’m right where I need to be even though life continues to test me. It sure does take a village and dang do I have a good one.
