Looking for a New Home for a Trained 9-Month-Old Cane Corso (Atlanta, GA)

Hey everyone, I run a dog training business called Kaizen Canine based in Atlanta. One of our clients is going through some serious medical issues and, unfortunately, can no longer care for her dog. We’ve been temporarily housing him to maintain his training, but now we’re looking to find him a permanent home.

His name is Duke — a 9-month-old Cane Corso with over $7,500 worth of professional training under his belt. He’s got a great foundation and has been living in a structured environment. He’s good with kids, but he does need a home with an experienced handler — no first-time Corso owners, please.

Duke is:
• Leash trained and walks well on a loose leash
• Reliable with recall (comes when called)
• Knows “down” and will hold a stay
• Respectful of doorways and thresholds
• Socialized with people and environments
• Comfortable around children
• Crate trained and maintains house manners

His main quirk is barking when meeting new people, but he settles down quickly once he knows you.

There will be a modest rehoming fee and training at our facility is required as part of the adoption process — we want to set him and his future home up for long-term success.

Atlanta is going through a Cane Corso craze at the moment. I have recently had a surge in evaluating these beautiful dogs. They can be great dogs but unfortunately I feel like the wrong people are buying them.

These dogs are naturally vigilant and attentive. I mean a bird can fly in the sky and they will bark at it. So it shouldn’t surprise you that it will bark at friends and family coming over. Of course this can be trained and managed but you will need to seek help.

Raising a corso is NOT easy but putting in a busy apartment building makes it harder.

Raising a corso is NOT easy but buying a poorly breed one makes it harder.

Raising a corso is NOT easy but NOT budgeting for expert level training makes it harder.

These dogs are not for people who don’t know dog behavior and psychology.

For people who don’t know how to provide an outlet through structured play.

For people who do not have the time to expose the dog and socialize it.

These dogs are especially not for folks who cannot invest into training. Feeding a dog this size is already expensive.

LASTLY THESE DOGS ARE NOT GIFTS. DO NOT BUY ONE AS A GIFT FOR ANOTHER PERSON.

With that being said if you own a corso and are ready to move forward with impactful training that works you know where to reach out.

I read this quote and immediately thought about dog owners. The number one problem I see with people is creating clear communication with their dog.

(Hint: it is not speaking verbally or yelling or repeating yourself)

I just was in disbelief today when this dog came in for an evaluation. They were told this is an Aussie doodle. It’s just mind blowing what these unethical breeders are doing?

Some of these doodle “breeders” are really just selling anything. Guys, if you cannot see where the puppies live, and it’s not with the litter mates? No info about the mom or dad? You found it off a listing on puppies.com?

All red flags 🚩

He’s a sweet but very fearful and reactive dog at 12 weeks. These are weak genetic traits passed down from unethical breeders. People don’t know..

The amount of pride I have for this girl cannot be measured. We went from daily attacks towards my senior dogs in the home to almost a year with no aggression. I was hopeless and Kaizen Canine gave me the confidence to help Winnie overcome her emotions. I love this dog so much and am so dang proud of her.
