🍩 Happy National Donut Day from Pryce Acres 🍩 Who says homemade, all-natural, chemical-free living can’t come with a side of fried goodness? 👩🏽🌾💛 Here’s our favorite natural donut recipe—made without store-bought yeast or sugar… and still just as fluffy, sweet, and satisfying 😋✨
We’re working toward a lifestyle where even treats are rooted in what we grow 🌱🐓 Using fresh-milled flour, pastured eggs, and sugarcane juice (instead of processed sugar), these donuts taste like a true indulgence—but better for body and soul 🤎🌾
🥣 Natural Sourgh-Dough-Nut
– 1 cup active sourdough starter (100% hydration, bubbly and fed within 4–6 hrs) 🌿
– ¾ cup fresh-pressed sugarcane juice (acts as sweetener + liquid)
– 1 large pasture-raised egg 🥚 (room temp for best mix)
– 2½–3 cups freshly milled flour 🌾 (used within 24–48 hrs to preserve nutrients; hard white or red wheat, sifted for fluff)
– 2 tbsp melted coconut oil, lard, or tallow 🥥🐖🐄 (natural fats that fry beautifully—coconut oil adds sweetness, lard is neutral, tallow rich)
– Optional: pinch natural sea or Himalayan salt 🧂 (balances sweetness, but not essential)
Mix and knead gently until smooth. Let rise covered until doubled—4–6 hrs depending on starter. Roll out, cut donuts, rest and rise \~1 hr. Fry in hot coconut oil, lard, or tallow until golden ✨🍥 Dust with powdered cane crystals or drizzle thickened cane syrup glaze 🍯
At Pryce Acres, we believe donuts can be part of a regenerative life… honoring the land while indulging the senses 🌻🫶🏽💫
