Y’all… we are feeling incredibly blessed tonight.

One of the realities of owning a small business while also working a full-time job is that sometimes your evenings don’t end when you get home. Sometimes they look like packaging egg orders at midnight so they can be dropped off tomorrow morning.

And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

The support that y’all continue to show The Happy Homestead means more than we could ever put into words. Every order, every share, every comment, every recommendation to a friend—it all adds up. What started as a dream has grown into something so much bigger than we ever imagined, and it’s only possible because of this amazing community.

As we’re sitting here surrounded by shipping boxes and cartons, running on caffeine and excitement, our hearts are absolutely full. The kind of full that brings on happy tears.

Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for supporting a small, woman-owned, veteran-owned farm. Thank you for allowing us to do what we love every single day.

People laugh when I say he’s my soul rooster, but I mean it.

I’ve raised a lot of birds over the years, but there will only ever be one him. ❤️

This little rooster has been with me through some of the hardest days of my life. He doesn’t care what kind of day I’ve had, what I’m stressed about, or what’s going on in the world. He just wants to be close.

Nothing in this world compares to the love of an animal that chooses you.

My soul rooster. My best friend. My heart with feathers. 🐓✨

The Burgaw Vendors and I have made the decision to move the Burgaw Swap from July 18th to August 29th.

The heat index is already predicted to be incredibly hot, and the health and safety of the birds must come first.

Many of our vendors travel several hours to attend this event and typically need to stay overnight. We simply were not comfortable asking vendors to keep birds in vehicles during those temperatures. The risk was not worth it.

This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and with the birds’ best interests in mind.

This was a decision made by the entire vendor group.

Thank you all for understanding, and we look forward to seeing everyone in Burgaw on August 29th from 10am–2pm
